Brand new handmade mate gourd (cup) with straw (bombilla).This set includes one mate gourd and one straw (bombilla).These mate gourds were carefully selected by us for the quality, thickness and craftsmanship along with the natural coloring methods. They are handmade by artisans, each gourd will have its own unique characteristics. In general gourds are approximately the size of an average fruit (apple, pear or peach), some are a little bigger, some are a little smaller. It varies because they are natural. They are very comfortable to hold in your hand. You will also get with this set a booklet with detailed information about the mate ritual and instructions on how to cure your gourd.

This is an amazing gourd. Holding it while under the influence was an out of this world experience. It felt powerful, I could feel energy radiating from this gourd. I also take this gourd everywhere with me. You would think it's too small, but it's not. It's the perfect size, and I would suggest bringing a canteen of hot water (not boiling, as boiling water burns mate) with you if you're leaving the house with the gourd. I would say it's one of the most worthwhile purchases I've ever made.

But I am very very disappointed my Mate cup did not came with the metal rim on it. It did not look like the one on the picture and It's just too much work to return it.
I'm also very surprised by how small the cup is, I was expecting a little bit bigger. It's only about 3 inches wide. I'd recommend you to spend couple more dollars to get a better one. This one is just not worth the price.

Wow! Light gourd but its great overall! I love it! The bombilla suprisingly worked great and didnt let any mate leafs in. BUT you must know how to prepare the mate in the gourd or many leaves will go in the bombilla, you can get help by watching videos on youtube on how to prepare and cure the gourd. Mold is a possibility and common if it does grow it can easily be removed!

We received the gourd in a timely manner, the packaging was perfect.
The problem was the product itself. There were crumbs of wood/gourd in the center. Their are directions in seasoning the gourd for use in the package. After following the directions, there was mold on the inside and a whole that causes the tea to leak. We have had a gourd cup before and are aware of the imperfections in a natural product. This one was not even usable.
Really sorry that it worked out badly. Really needed a new one and didn't get it.
