I loved this crock pot except for a few complaints. The settings will only last for 8 hours. I could never figure out how to get it to go to warm after the timer goes off. The whole for the probe constantly leaks moisture out, thus lengthening cooking time. Last night the lid shattered on me. See my photo. Naturally the warranty does not cover the lid since it is glass.

like other reviewers, my trusty old slow cooker finally gave out and i had to replace it cause i can't live without one. Thought it'd be easy. Just go pick up one at the local store. But not that easy. Prices and features made me want to research first. Not an impulse buyer. I am very very happy with this one. I've used it numerous times from a roast to pulled pork to chicken soup. All were wonderful. No hot spots, scorching or the like. I highly recommend this cooker. Manual or temp probe or programmed, its just great. Not too big either, you don't have to fill it up. And the legs are quite sturdy and do not slide.

I love this slow cooker. I've used it probably 4-5 times now and will be making a big batch of chili this afternoon. I haven't used the temp probe yet for cooking but the cooker itself works great. I love that you can set the amount of time you want it to cook at a certain temp and then it goes to warm. It's super easy to clean and our food cooks very evenly. Our old slow cooker produced dry unevenly cooked food and it was the biggest pain to clean. The meat comes out very moist and tender in this cooker. We've made two chicken recipes, goulash, and stew. We love it.

like so many others, the computer on my 33966 failed after just 2 uses. However, the 2nd use came AFTER the 90 days Amazon covers. So I contacted Hamilton Beach by telephone and was informed that the warranty is 1 year but after the 1st 90 days I pay shipping 1 way (about $13.), this is supposedly stated in the warranty:

did I miss something? I don't see it. So beware before you purchase this - HB will try and get an extra shipping charge out of you. Then they will ask you to take a photo of the cooker with the cord cut (yes, that's right) and a copy of your Amazon invoice and email it to photo@hamiltionbeach.com to get a working cooker. And, no you don't get a new warranty.

there must be a better slow cooker with better support.

Temperature probe seems to defeat the purpose of a slow cooker since it stops cooking when it reaches desired temp. Should be able to see temp and continue cooking.
Lid is lower than other slow cooker limiting the size of items you can put in.
A little pricey for what it does. Quality appears to be similar to those at half the price.

I received this slow cooker as a Christmas gift. i liked it so much i have since given it as a wedding present and then gave another one to someone else as a Christmas present! It is easy to program (all you do is set the digital touchscreen in half hour increments and forget) and our food is always done.i like the glass top cover so I can check on the food without lifting the lid and loosing all the moisture and aroma. The cooker is easy to clean with the lift out pan.
The draw backs are minimal. One being, the inner ceramic pan is somewhat heavy when lifting if you wash it by hand. The second being, be sure you have sufficient cabinet space for storage.

I purchased this based on other reviews so I'm adding a "me too" to the other good ratings.

This cooker is bigger than any other I own. It's fantastic for cooking for a large family. The temperature probe is a great asset that my other slow cookers lack. The digital readout is clear and settings easy to do. Is it possible to do sous vide with this cooker? I doubt it, but I'm going to see if I can.

I purchased this crock pot because the one I have isn't large enough to cook chickens and also a medium sized ham. I also just cooked a time and temperature controlled cook on a nice top round roast beef and it worked perfectly. This unit rocks. I love all the different choices of settings and when it comes to turning itself off you can move it over to warm if you aren't ready to serve. Great value and great performance in one heck of a crock pot and just to test it's limits I am going to try to bake a cake in it next.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this
Reviewed in Canada on January 25, 2014
This is the second slow cooker I have owned. My first one was programmable but very restrictive - only 4 or 6 hrs on high and 8 or 10 hrs on low. No manual override.

This slow cooker has both a program and manual option. For program you can choose the time in half hour increments from 4 hrs up to 12 hrs, then you choose the temperature - high or low - so you can cook for 5 1/2 hrs on low or 8 hrs on high, whatever you want. Once the cook time is up, the unit automatically switches to warm. But, if you realize your food is cooked before the time is up, simply switch off the unit, restart it in manual mode and select warm. The digital display also counts down how much cooking time is left (in program mode) which is a handy option. You cannot set it to delay the start of cooking but I'm not sure I would want raw food sitting on the counter for two hours before starting cooking anyway.

This is the perfect size for my family of 3 because I want the leftovers for my shift-worker husband's work meals. I have not yet used the temperature probe and do not put it in the lid when using the unit. The handles are great for carrying it in and out of the cupboard and it is not very heavy, a definite plus because I am a small person so it's very easy for me to move it around as I don't have the room to leave it on the counter.

I have been scouring the internet for freezer slow cooker meals - put all the ingredients in a freezer bag and freeze, defrost over night, and put in the slow cooker for the day before I leave for work. So far, everything I have made has turned out well - and I have been giving it a good work out lol.

I am very glad I purchased this unit. It really suits my needs. I got it on sale at a very good price from Amazon, free shipping, and the delivery time was exceptionally short - I placed the order December 24 and had it in less than a week - incredible for the time of year and where I live.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not dual voltage
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 26, 2013
This is a good slow cooker, it does the job and has a good capacity.

However, be aware that it flies from the US and this brand sells only in North America. As a result, this cooker is not capable of (safely) running on 220V. You will need to purchase a 300W step-down transformer to plug it into (
USA to UK 240v TO 120v Step Down Transformer 300W ).

DO NOT just buy this and change the plug to a UK 3-pin plug.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked great until it didn't work anymore!
Reviewed in Canada on September 15, 2014
I love slow cookers and this one worked well for me for the winter months. I used it for chicken, jambalaya, ribs, pork chops and they all tuned out lovely. Then one day I plugged it in and the electronic screen wasn't working. I pushed every button to try to get it to work and nothing happened. I tried different outlets and still nothing. Less than a year of use and the thing was shot. It was frustrating to say the least as I had to put all my food in another pot and cook it on the stove top instead. I thought it would not be a big deal as I could hurt get it replaced because it had a five year warranty. Boy was I wrong.

Hamilton Beach has the worst customer service call centre I have ever encountered. On our first call to get it replaced, the call completely disconnected when speaking to someone. On the second call we were told there was a location in our city that we could take it to to have it assessed And either repaired or replaced. We called the repair place only to be informed that they closed down two month earlier. Why Hamilton Beach did not know this is beyond me. So on our third attempt we were told that it would cost us for shipping which would amount to almost as much as we would pay to buy a new one.

I've learned my lesson. Don't buy Hamilton Beach products no matter the warranty and avoid buying electronic slow cookers. It's back to a manual Crockpot for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very convenient timer system, but very large capacity
Reviewed in Canada on August 3, 2010
This slow cooker has an easy-to-use timer and is great for leaving your food cooking while you're at work all day. The time keeps food from overcooking.
However, it is a very big appliance, which means it takes a lot of space and needs to be half full (3L worth of food) in order to work. It's usually not to big a problem because most slow cooker foods are easy to freeze, but it is something to think about if you don't want to have too many leftovers to worry about.

4.0 out of 5 stars my first slow cooker
Reviewed in Canada on June 24, 2013
I loved the idea of a slow cooker after reading a few receipts at "chatelaine" magazine. Growing up in Chile I never knew about this integral part of Canadian culture. I chose this one for the price and the "probe". As it has turned out I have never used the temperature probe because all the fantastic recipes I have cooked only call for "warm", "high" and a certain amount of time. This is something super easy to program into this cooker and it switches to warm when the cooking time is over. The cooker comes with a little manual explaining briefly how to cook meat with the probe, but it is very basic stuff. So my only complain would be that the probe could have been left out of the deal.

I have never burned anything in this pot, not even after many hours in high, the cleaning is easy, the 6 Qt size is ideal for our family of 4 (enough for 2-3 or meals), the parts are sturdy and arriving home to find dinner ready is priceless.
I am absolutely in love with my slow cooker and with the whole slow cooker concept. An so is my family.
