Publisher Description
She was known as The Spinster of Brightwood Manor, and that suited Lady Beatrice O’Brien just fine.
She was happy being a spinster; happy running her father’s estates while amassing a fortune of her own; happy tending to the needs of her community; and most of all, she was happy not having a man around to tell her what to do.
But when Beatrice accidentally shoots her new neighbor, the Earl of Drennan, her life turns upside-down. Suddenly, this very arrogant gentleman, who also happens to be charming and attractive, makes himself at home at Brightwood Manor, and proceeds to court her!
Beatrice knows one thing for certain. Marriage will complicate her life. But falling in love? That’s an entirely different matter.

Spinster and the Earl
Very interesting read. Gentle love still written.
Good story, but ...
The story was good, the plot believable, the characters well-built, and the protagonists all likable.
The author doesn't have an ear for the difference between Irish and Scottish dialect, and perhaps leaving dialect (didna, doona) out would have been better.
There are too many incidents where lack of research in the era and of Ireland is glaringly obvious. I suspect that I've been reading Regencies far longer than the author has been alive, as I began reading them barely into my teens--and reading quite a lot of history besides.
In the last few chapters, it seems that careful editing was missing, moreso than earlier. If the publisher provided editorial assistance, it doesn't show.
I finished the story to find out how it ended. I wish the author well, and hope that better editing is in her future. I think there's going to be a story involving the young heiress sold into marriage by her uncle, and I'm curious to know how that will be told.

I couldn't read past chapter two-horrible grammar, punctuation, and continuity. In one paragraph the Englishman's scar is red, in the next paragraph it is white. I have no idea if the story was any good or not. Don't waste your time!
