So in the spirit of full disclosure I need to say that I bought this olive oil without particularly high expectations. My thought process had basically been this: I cook with olive oil a LOT. I go through a ton of it in a month. My local grocer only sells relatively small bottles at high prices... and I really don't need a particularly high quality olive oil just to saute a little garlic and such.
I did not buy this expecting it to be of a quality I'd be willing to use as an herbed oil dip for bread... or even of a quality that I'd be willing to use as a dressing for salad or tossed veggies.
So it was a very pleasant surprise to find that I can use it for both and still enjoy the taste!
Is this comparable to a specially pressed olive oil that has been lovingly prepared by ancestral monks in a remote abbey high in the mountains of Greece through a process handed down through a thousand generations and then sold only to those who are willing to pay a few thousand dollars AND walk through fire? Uh...no... and quite frankly, if you buy this expecting it to compare to a high grade olive oil, you probably shouldn't be allowed near the open-flame of a stove to begin with.
But if you are looking for a good olive oil to use in your day-to-day meal preparation that won't cost you an arm and a leg, then this is certainly a good buy and definitely of a good quality. If anything, it's of a much better quality than you would otherwise receive at this price-per-ounce.
I consider this to be one of the better purchases I've made this month.
This 100% Italian grown, processed , and bottled version of the Kirkland Brand is very highly rated by some in the health community, this is my go to, for quality oil at a fair price
This is the real deal. 100% unadulterated extra virgin olive oil. I have been reading a lot about the dilution and misrepresentation of so-called 100% olive oil, many of which are imported from Italy. Most of the grocery store oil that we purchase has been laced with other inferior oils to increase the profits. Even Newman's Organic Olive Oil is not 100% pure. That was a shocker. Other "fake" oils include Bertolli, Colavita, Mezzetta and Whole Foods. Unbelievable. Kirkland brand is real. 100% pure, extra virgin and delicious. Buy with confidence. Highly recommended. **UPDATE** I am now going to purchase only the ORGANIC version of this oil. I have read new information that has convinced me that this product is not 100% pure, unadulterated extra-virgin olive oil. Do your homework.
The bottle leaves something to be desired. While obviously you are supposed to keep it in a dark place I would have still liked the bottle to have that dark color that protects it encased around the bottle.
The actual taste in my opinion is exactly like any cheaper alternative however I got this because of its grade being higher than what my grocery store provided and at a lower cost. This is why it is a 4 out of 5 star. I will buy again despite that though because for all that I use this for its important to have a higher grade olive oil. I had actually meant to buy the organic because I use this for my skin as well as my food, however I think after I run out (which will be a long time with a bottle this size), I will likely just buy this again.

Other uses for olive oil: Moisturizer: Just using less than a pea size amount as a moisturizer is really nice for dry skin. Scrub: Olive Oil + Baking Soda is a natural exfoliate and good for removing dead skin and reducing acne scars. Deep Hair Conditioner: Either by itself or mixed in with other ingredients such as egg, honey, etc. After you shampoo it out it leaves hair really soft. Shaving Cream: By itself, works better than shaving cream.
Acne: This take a bit more explanation. Basically after I cleanse my face I sometimes put this on as a moisturizer/acne prevention method. The oil basically mimics your skins natural oil and keeps your skin from producing more oil, while at the same time the oil breaks up what is built into the pores. However I would not replace your moisturizer with this, just maybe let it sit for 5 minutes then wash your face with some cold water or if you don't like the oily feeling it leaves wash your face like you do regularly and use your reg moisturizer afterwords. It does wonders for cleaning out the pores.
My family started using olive oil as one of 3 kinds of oil to cook with on a low carb, high fat diet...I had read somewhere that Kirtland brand was the best extra virgin olive oil on the market..I started out buying it at Costco, which is one of the only stores tò carry that brand..Luckily after not renewing my Costco membership, I found it here on Amazon..I know it is a bit expensive, but the flavor is heavenly..Mild and delicious.. Now I only use olive, coconut oil and real butter in my cooking..The rest are soo bad for you...I cook anything and everything woth this oil, including baked goods, because of the subtle flavor..
