If you've played Diablo or the previous Legends game you know mostly what to expect. This is a very solid game, will take you a good amount of time to finish; there are few better ones you could spend your money on. It's a really solid game that's cheap enough now that you should have no excuses not to get it. The first X-men Legends game is better, in big part because you fight so many Sentinels, but that one's dirt cheap too now so just buy them both. Also don't miss Marvel Ultimate Alliance, that one is even better than the Legends games.
There are a few problems. First you are stuck with their default button layout. It's not overly annoying, but I'd have liked to rearrange things a bit to make it easier to control. Managing 4 active characters and swapping out any other ones is a little onerous. The auto-equipment option makes this much less of a chore, but it can be a little quirky how it assigns gear to your team. I could say the same thing for both auto-skill distribution and auto-stat distribution.
Whether a plus or a minus, you really should only deal with your four characters if you can help it. The ones you aren't taking on missions level up much more slowly than your active characters, so if you swap guys a lot you can be in for a really hard game. I found this a little disappointing. There are some characters which really aren't all that good, but would have been fun to play for short spurts, however I ended up playing just the ones I had been so they didn't lose out on experience.
In short, if you want the best team you have to pick 4 characters, stay with only those the entire game, and micromanage ever aspect. I've also heard there are some glitches if you carry/store too much gear, so make sure you sell the stuff you aren't using. The PC version of the game does have a couple of extra characters, Sabertooth and Pyro, but they're not all that good and you aren't missing much.
