Description

The Quest Classic - Islands of Ice and Fire is an expansion to The Quest Classic, a beautifully hand-drawn, engaging and sinister world full of mystery, magic and provocative challenges. After enabling the expansion, you can continue to play The Quest Classic with your existing character(s) to explore new areas and quests. However, if you don't have The Quest Classic, you can also play the expansion as a standalone game.

In the game you are a Kingdom Agent on special assignment to discover the source of a mysterious illness that has devastated one island (icy Thule) and threatens another (fiery Eldfell). You'll need all your wits and gaming talents as you travel through these deceptively picturesque worlds to overcome new challenges, for good or evil.

In the expansion you will find:
- Over 30 hours of additional gameplay
- New monsters with graphics/abilities/properties
- New weapon type: crossbow and its ammo, crossbow bolt
- New, superiorly enchantable armors and weapons
- A brand new spell with its own effect
- A lethal disease - keep yourself away from that one!
- Many new quests, NPCs and high level shops
- New books to learn skills from

To access the new areas (not applicable if you are playing the expansion standalone), go to Mithria harbor and talk to captain Hanty, then select "The Quest Isle" as your travel destination. It is recommended to reach at least level 14 before trying to take on the challenges the isles pose.

Great expansion, but warning to those who bought "The Quest Gold"

The Quest series is amazing and I have to say that the expansions are amazing! One problem though that they do not tell you about on this page. If you bought "The Quest Gold" over the regular "The Quest" as a starter game for the series, do not buy the following expansions : Hero of Lukomorye 1, Hero of Lukomorye 2, Islands of Ice and Fire. These come pre-packaged within the Quest Gold from the beginning. If you do what I did and bought this by accident, you will know it when you get the error that says "The Quest version 2.0 or later must be installed." Upon researching the internet I found out why. Hence I am warning others from making the same mistakes I did. If you own "The Quest" this will work for you with no problems. If you Own "The Quest Gold" don't buy this or the other listed expansions mentioned. They come prepackaged as part of the premium gold package when you get that application, which is a great deal by the way to kick start you off to the game. Other than that, great series chock full of entertainment.

On the side if you buy any expansions outside of this, get the expansion "The Cursed Chess Set" best way of starting off a new character with tons of amazing equipment and so much money.

Top Quality

I cannot praise this game enough! I have the base game, and it is absolutely the best RPG that I've found on the iPhone/ iPod platform. Just like the base game, this expansion is well worth the asking price, in that there is lots to do, as far as quests, and side quests go. There are plenty of areas to explore as well. Best of all, its a non-linear setup, as is the base game, so there's no particular order in which things must be accomplished. The plot continues to thicken at an exciting pace! The options for customizing your character, are wonderful, as well...
Originally, this game was only available for the PC, and Palm and maybe one other handheld device; Redshift did a fantastic job with porting The Quest, and its expansion, to the touch screen interface. It's a complicated, tricky process, and they did an outstanding job with both games.
As for the bug that's been discovered in the version of 2.1. which occurs when a "yes" or "no" dialogue appears, or when using rope to get to one area from another, Redshift is working very hard to remedy this problem, which should be resolved in a few weeks.

An absolute production stopper

The Quest and the expansion both will have you making time to play. I am very picky and critical when it comes to my gaming, and I am very cheap, so I shopped for a good long while before intitally purchasing The Quest. A couple of weeks later, I was anticiapting the release of the expansion, and would've bought it at three times the price. I'd never played The Quest, or any of it's expansions, previously, but now I am a huge fan. Redshift/Chillingo, please give us more expansions for the iphone.
That said, I found the controls to be a little quirky at first, but once I locked the screen rotation and went exclusively to the d-pad it became a non-issue. The sheer volume of gameplay and depth of sidequests is impressive, but I found the end of Ice and Fire to be a little monotonous. A simple back door on the Abbey would've improved this greatly.
Like I said, give us more - Sten can only rest on his laurels for so long.
