"I've experienced a whole lot the last few years and I have a lot to share. So I hope that you'll take a moment to sit back, relax and enjoy the words I've put together for you in this book. I think you'll find I've left no stone unturned, no door unopened, no window unbroken, no rug unvacuumed, no ivories untickled. What I'm saying is, let us begin, shall we?"
Seriously... I'm Kidding is a lively, hilarious, and often sweetly poignant look at the life of the much-loved entertainer as she opens up about her personal life, her talk show, and more.

I am not a fan of talk shows, but I am a fan of Ellen DeGeneres. She's cute, she's funny, and she doesn't use put down humor - at least that I've seen. She is also, like Michael J. Fox, an incurable optimist. Since I do most of my reading at night, in bed, before sleep, I want something that won't give me nightmares when I turn off the lights, and if I get laughs in my dreams, so much the better.
Ellen has a lot to say in this book. I haven't read her others, but they are now on my list. If it is possible to feel better for having read a book, I feel better for having read this one! This book is hilariously laugh out loud funny, it is uplifting, and there are a few nuggets of gold sprinkled throughout. Including, I think, The Secret. Since she shared it with her readers, I'm going to quote it here:
"Happiness comes from within. You have the power to change your own mind-set so that all the negative, horrible thoughts that try to invade your psyche are replaced with happy, positive, wonderful thoughts." She goes on to state that, "Happiness is a journey, not a destination."
I have found both those statements, in one form or another, to be true. Also true is that, "Happiness is a choice, and not always an easy one!" by Richard Bach
So if you need a little happiness in your life (and who doesn't?) get a copy of this book and read it. The chapters are just the right length to read while sitting in the Throne Room;-)
Need a good escape? Read, Seriously...I'm Kidding! Need a bunch of laughs? Read, Seriously...I'm Kidding! Need answers to life's niggling questions? Read, uh wait, Seriously...I'm Kidding;-)
This was a relatively short book and a really fast read because some chapters were just a paragraph or a list of things. I kind of felt like these short chapters were filler; the longer chapters were definitely the funnier ones. Ellen fans (so most everybody - who's not a fan of Ellen??) will like this book but you might check it out on audio, it's probably better in that format.
Sitting with a book and laughing out loud every couple of minutes, doesn't happen every day.
Ellen is smart, hilarious and playful, just like in her stand-up routine and her talk show. It's a similar kind of humor, she finds funny and special in our everyday life. It's so authentically Ellen you can almost hear her voice pronouncing the words.
Also, she connects, reaches out to people. I heard A.Curry comment sth like that between funny lines in the book you can find bits of wisdom. That's true! Book is helpful in that inspire-wanna be way, but discreetly and via humor.
Among others, book has her views on beauty, aging, being honest and confident, social skills, then her look-back on her carrier, being a Cover girl, American Idol judge, a little bit about her habits, being vegan, meditation and her love for animals and Portia.
There's no juicy details about celebrities or her private life, this isn't that sort of book. There are some notes on that, but nothing which is tabloid material.
Some paragraphs are just goofy and random whose only purpose, I believe, is to try to get you to smile like a kid...(e.g. gambling tips, drawings for kids...) If you like her everyday humor you'll love it, otherwise you may not get it.
For me, the only trouble was that I couldn't put it down so I was almost late to work the following day.
Ellen is like a healthy happy pill. Very charming book and I will re-read it. I hope she keeps taking notes!

It is funny book and worth to read.
Thanks ELLEN:)
The wisdom she does have to offer is amazing for example her approach to aging, "I don't know at what age people stop wanting to be older," the 53-year-old writes. "It must be around 40, when you're 'over the hill.' I don't even know what that means and why it's a bad thing. When I go hiking and I get over the hill, that means I'm past the hard part and there's a snack in my future."
Every time you feel low you don't anymore have to go talk to a friend because Ellen is talking to us in this book so you can just talk back to Ellen.I am trying to tell you that you should carry this book everywhere you go.
After reading certain chapters I was so inspired that I wanted to put what Ellen said into practice so I did the following stuff
Before I tell the things I did there were things that happened to me when reading the book
- I lost few pounds as I read the book without a break so that means no food and water
- I browsed on wikihow and found tips for shinier hair
Chapters and what happened
~ when I read a chapter about taking risks
I sent my best friend a lizard pic and now I am lonely
I rhymed on all my texts and now I have no Whatsapp messages
I picked a fight with my husband because I wanted to send long meaningless texts
~ when I read how important it is to slow down
I Didn't rush over to pick my 8 month old daughter when she fell from the crib because I have learnt to slow down and when I almost reached my daughter she became a teenager
~ when I read that it is important to declutter
I rushed to the wash and picked the tiny piece of soap I saved since 15 long years and trashed it. It was heartbreaking but I will get through
~ when I read about being honesty
I wrote a letter to all expecting moms letting them know the truth about parenting and posted in a mums group and gained 2 likes ( and ppl hate me more there. Admin was asleep so I am still part of the group)
A book that's more fun than AFV, until the show airs at least
