The combat in Mortal Kombat X is as brutal and satisfying as ever, with a great deal of depth and strategy. The game features a variety of new mechanics, such as the ability to perform Fatalities, Brutalities, and X-Ray attacks, which add a layer of excitement to the gameplay.
The graphics in Mortal Kombat X are simply stunning, with detailed character models and environments. The game's lighting and special effects are also top-notch, and they help to create an immersive and atmospheric experience.
The sound design in Mortal Kombat X is equally impressive, with a great soundtrack and some of the most gruesome sound effects in the series. The voice acting is also excellent, with each character bringing their unique personality to life.
Mortal Kombat X is a must-have for fans of the series and fighting games in general. The game is packed with content and features, and it delivers an incredibly satisfying and rewarding experience.
Pros:
Stunning graphics and sound design
Deep and rewarding combat system
Huge roster of characters with unique movesets
Variety of modes to keep you entertained
Brutal and satisfying fatalities
Cons:
Can be quite difficult for newcomers
Some of the character designs are a bit over-the-top
Online play can be laggy at times
Overall, Mortal Kombat X is an excellent fighting game that is sure to please fans of the series and newcomers alike. If you're looking for an adrenaline-pumping and action-packed experience, then Mortal Kombat X is the game for you.
Stunning graphics, as your fight progresses your character get bloodier and dirtier.
You can interact with the background, ie, use tree branches to either hit your oppent or jump on a wall to get away from them.
I haven't touch story mode really but so far it looks fantanstic.
Tower challenges are as fun as ever.
The fatalities look stunning aswell as the x Rays.
I haven't been online as there seems to be a few issues getting a match but hopefully that should be sorted soon.
Bad Points:
I can't really think of any really, story mode us supposedly short, button mashing will not work. Oh yeah, kinda cheap but you can buy easy fatalities like with real money and instead of playing the game to gain coins to unlock the krypt, again you can spend around £15 to unlock it all. Kinda disappointed they went this route with. But overall this is a great game with replay value. Recommend!!
But Mortal Kombat X isn't just about the gore, although the game does give you the ability to dispatch defeated foes with the use of a variety of ridiculously violent finishing moves. It's a solid 2D/3D fighting game, which uses 3D graphics but takes place in a 2D plane so you move left and right, not into and out of the screen. The last game killed off a great many of the series previous fighters so this new title features a range of new and old combatants, sorry, 'kombatants'. There's also an entertaining story mode which ties the fights together, though you can jump in and just play the straight fighting mode if you want.
Each character has a range of special moves, as well as straight kicks and punches. You can now select a different fighting style when you choose your character from the twenty-three initially selectable fighters. This gives you access to a few different special moves, and you can aso change costumes when you unlock them by collecting enough 'Koins', though those don't change the way the game plays. There's also an energy meter system that lets you give some special moves extra power, and you can also use the background to damage your opponent, although there are sadly no stage fatalities in this game.
But is it any fun? Yes, it's a blast, whether you're playing in single or multiplayer - although there's a good chance you will get your backside kicked when you go online from the first time. It's not perfect, though. Firstly, the game still uses dial-a-kombos which means you can do damage just by hitting a sequence of buttons quicker than your opponent. Street Fighter, on the other hand, requires a little more skill than this to pull off combos, which is possibly why Street Fighter IV is the game most commonly used in fighting tournaments.
There's also the game's use of downloadable content. Straight away, one of the game's characters is locked away behind DLC. If you didn't pre-order the game through certain retailers - not Amazon, oddly - you can't play as Goro without buying him. There are also four other characters who are going to be downloadable only - Jason Voorhees having already been released. The annoying thing is that these characters are displayed in shadow on the character select screen, which is a pretty in your face way of advertising them.
This aside, Mortal Kombat X is a hugely entertaining and ridiculously violent, and if you're looking for a fun 2D fighting game then this fits the bill nicely.
