Product Description
Best for beginners
"Arguably the most famous resin 3D printer out there, the Elegoo Mars 3 is a great option for both beginners and experts alike.
The Mars 3 is comparable to more premium resin 3D printers, but its ease of use and reputation make it worth a purchase, especially if you’re intimidated by the hobby as a whole."
-------PopSci
Mars 3 is ELEGOO’s first ultra-4k high-precision, compacted-size desktop LCD resin 3D printer.
It uses a 6.66-inch ultra-4K high-resolution monochrome LCD, an upgraded COB UV light source structure, and a new release film 2.0 for printing.
Ultra 4K monochrome LCD
The ELEGOO Mars 3 Resin 3D printer is equipped with an Ultra 4K 6.6-inch monochrome LCD with a resolution of 4098*2560.
Compared with ordinary 2K LCD 3D printers, its printing volume is 37% higher than Mars 2, XY accuracy is up to 35 microns, 30% higher than Mars 2 series, higher printing efficiency, more stable performance, and less maintenance.
Upgrade the light source structure
36 highly integrated LED lights with a newly designed free-form surface lens, the light uniformity exceeds 90%, bringing more precise printing dimensional accuracy.
Heat dissipation structure
It is the first time to adopt a copper tube heat dissipation structure in ELEGOO resin 3D printer, which greatly optimizes the heat dissipation performance and reduces light decay.
With 6000 hours of continuous printing, the light decay is less than 5%, which extends the lifespan of the 3D printer.
Chitubox Pro 1 year experience
A one-year free trial of Chitibubox Pro slicer is included, which is worth 169 USD.
From the automatic support algorithm to the upgrade of the model repair tool, Chitubox Pro helps better output the model and allows you to realize the unlimited potential of 3D printing.

I am not new to 3D printing. Previous to the Mars 3, I had an Anycubic Photon Mono and an Ender 5 Pro FDM. Love the Ender, and really liked the Photon - EXCEPT the maintenance nightmare that it was. It seemed that after every third print, the FEP would get holes, or the build plate wouldn't be level and cause a failure, or the LCD would go out. The last straw was the current LCD was starting to go (just replaced it 2 months before it developed a bad spot) and the FEP leaked and damaged the rest of the screen. Suffice it to say, I was NOT pleased with how often I was having to replace the FEP film, nor the fact that I was going to be on my third LCD in less than a year of printing.
That brings me to the Mars 3! I did a lot of research for printers in the Mars 3 price range, and decided that the Mars 3 sounded attractive enough to fit my needs and sounded like it was a little more friendly in terms of maintenance. One of the first things that made me want to get it is that it comes with a factory installed film on the LCD, and it ended up being something that I would need rather early on.
This is where the -1 star comes in, within 7 attempted prints (2 failures due to using new resin I didn't know the settings on), one of the prints had a piece that stuck to the FEP. Usually, that's not a huge issue, but for some reason, the print as it kept going developed a sharp point and ruptured the FEP. Of course, this means that resin leaked onto the screen during printing and cured. The film on the screen worked! I just had to basically peel off the protector and carefully get the resin off the screen. Far easier than what I had to do with the Mono out of the box, and that film saved me from having to get a new screen... AGAIN. But, unfortunately, there are no direct replacements for the screen film that Elegoo produces, which is where that one star comes in. It's FANTASTIC that the screen was protected in this case, but it also sucks that there isn't a way to get a factory authorized screen protector to replace it once the inevitable happens. Good thing is I know about screen protector films now, and that I would eventually need one, so I already have one that I bought just in case this happens (Mach5ive). I haven't had a chance to install it and get back to printing, but once I get the new FEP installed as well as that I should be good to go again.
Pros:
LCD screen protector out of the box
4k resolution - I printed some TINY things with one of the first prints, one being a pirate girl that has a tiny pirate teddy bear on her back, and the details it brought out blow the Mono away.
Looks nice
Factory screen protector for the push button screen - this is a weird Pro, I will admit, but I didn't take the film off of the touch screen for the buttons. I can still push the buttons through it, and this will keep the screen from getting mucky if there's ever a drip of resin that gets on it!
I love that the screws for the vat come out, instead of being embedded in the base of the printer like the Anycubic. Means it will be easier to clean them if/when they get resin on them
Metal area around the LCD - will make clean up easy if some spills, even if it cures, can just be scraped off and cleaned.
Cons:
Plastic base - I don't know how I managed it, but a few drips of resin went down one of the sides of the printer already and cured there before I even noticed it. With having a plastic base, this will never come off.
FEP - I know this is one of the things that come with printing with resin, but having an FEP fail after less than 10 prints is disappointing. I know people who say they've been using the same FEP for a year, and I can't for the life of me understand how that's possible
Overall, though, I am extremely please with this purchase. Out of the box, it was FAR easier to get things set up and going than the Mono, with only needing 2 test prints to get the settings for the resin I was using tuned in. The detail on small items is amazing as well. Print times are pretty much the same as the Mono, for the most part, so there's no speed improvement from 2k to 4k (not that I was expecting any).

Our MARS 2 PRO has done an amazing job. We've used it almost every day, and have found that the base settings for the included software (CHITUBOX 64) need to be adjusted based on your own personal preferences and what type of resin your using. It's been easy to adjust and figure out. Some things to consider:
FEV film. It comes with two extra sheets, but they can get damaged pretty easily, depending on use. I haven't purchased any extra yet, but I will review it as well once I've used it. I did find some rolls, but still researching what kind I want to get.
Cleaning. One of the video's I watched showed the difference between simple green and a 91% solution alcohol. I haven't used the simple green but judging on the products washed in the video, alcohol gives a better finish. 91% has not been easy to find, but it's worth searching locally, as a gallon online is around $25. I use it in the wash tank, as well as for cleaning out the resin reservoir. There does seem to be some resin buildup on the walls of the printer top, but it doesn't effect it's use.
Just some of my observations. Here's my breakdown of the rated categories.
Print Quality: Without spending over $500 for the base unit, this is amazing. The detail level is awesome, and the slicing software is highly customizable. We use the small supports, and after experimenting I now leave them at the default settings. The failed prints and the issues I've had have been due to lack of enough supports or adjusting those settings. A large print slice tends to stick to the FEV film if using small or thin supports. It then breaks at the contact point, and has to be carefully cleaned off of the film.
For Beginners: Well, that's what I am. I do wish there was a larger text manual, but that's a user preference. I like to read directions, but there are a lot of videos as I've mentioned. There are some parts that are not intuitive, but with a little patience and practice it's a quick learning curve.
Touch Screen: I'm a little confused as to why this is a rated feature, but it's there so I'll write about it. The file selection is easy, the thumbnail makes it simple to select them, and it isn't hyper sensitive, which is nice. It's resolution could be improved, but I don't think the added manufacture cost is worth it though, and the price is reasonable. I certainly wouldn't want it adjusted.
As I get more experience I may update my review. If you decide to purchase this, enjoy it! I certainly know I have.
Update 1: Our resin reservoir was punctured, and some of the resin cured to the LED lamp. I contacted ELEGOO customer support and received excellent response times and service. MORE UPDATE! We received the replacement LED. Made sure to watch the video recommended prior to replacing it, it really is easy. There is one CRITICAL thing you need to know. When you remove the LED, be sure to separate the glass from the screen itself. We learned this the hard way, and found it with another google search. So, heat the removed component up to loosen the adhesive (we used a hair dryer).
