Hardware compatibility issue. I've never had this problem before. After changing where it was plugged (SATA III to SATA III), it is up and blazing. I am now getting full speeds out of it (topped out at about 520 MB/S on ATTO).
***END UPDATE***
This much SSD storage at this price is AWESOME!
Pros:
About 4.5 GB per dollar. As a computer component, I use computer gigs, not engineering gigs.
Practically zero seek time. What you would expect from any solid state device.
Small and light.
Cons:
***See edit, this is resolved*** Slow! You will see equal speeds from a SATA II device. For a little more money, you can double the speed. For my needs with this drive, speed is no issue.
For quite some time, I have been surprising myself with SP products. They are great With this drive, I was expecting slightly higher speeds than I found (topping out at about 290 mb/s). The speed over SATA II is only a little slower, which means the controller is really slow. I wanted this drive for a secondary disk. No seek time, higher speeds, and only slightly higher price compared to spinning drives was my target. It offers all of these. I would not use this is my OS disk, as I am an impatient person, and it loads slower than I like. The tables I need it for involve reading lots of tiny files scattered throughout many directories. Seek times make the fastest spinning disks lag horribly. My 575 mb/s SSD runs them a little faster than this one, but only a tiny bit. I paid almost as much for a quarter of the storage.
EDIT: After a few weeks with this drive my PS3 started crashing mid-game. It would just freeze for no known reason at least twice a day. After a little bit of troubleshooting it was suggested to me on the Playstation Community Forums that my hard drive might be going bad. So I swapped back to the old drive just to see what would happen. Immediately, the problem went away. Unfortunately I have to return this. Get something better, maybe the Reactor solid state which I'm going to try next.

Edit: DO NOT BUY!!! My hard drive just stopped working entirely and I’ve lost everything. Absolutely everything. I’m devastated.
