As I started using my Bamboo Slate, all of my worries from watching/reading reviews vanished!
First of all, the Bamboo Slate comes with a 40 pages dotted Notepad, 2 ink cartridges (one inside the pen and one in a small bag), a cartridge removal tool, and a USB to MicroUSB cable for charging.
The hardware is extraordinary! The amount of precision in turning your physical writing/drawing into digital files is remarkable!
For the software (Inkspace), as opposed to what all the reviews said, I found it super easy and reliable to work with. There's no need for internet connection (since your devices are paired together using bluetooth and there's no need for signing up for an Inkspace account) if you choose to work offline after pairing your devices. There's a Live Mode inside the app where you can watch the magic happen as you're drawing on the paper.
Your pages are all easily accessible in one library, the Inkspace app provides some editing options (cutting parts of the page and moving them around, drawing, erasing, etc.) It also allows you to split one page into two based on the timeline and combine multiple pages into one. The app allows you to export to JPG, PNG, PDF, and WILL (whatever that is!) without signing up for an account (if you do, then you can export to SVG and HTML).
The only downside is that the Bamboo Paper app (which is recommended by Wacom to be used alongside Inkspace) is only available for iPad. But even without the Bamboo Paper app, this product is still awesome and totally worth the price.
In conclusion, this product is really good and on of a kind (I use it for brainstorming and developing my ideas). Totally recommended.

The device itself deserves a five star rating as it does exactly what I wanted it to do; convert my hand written notes, on ANY paper, into some form of electronic storage (OneNote). While it doesn't "register" light pressure writing v. heavy pressure writing it captures my notes exactly as I wrote them.
The only concern (reason for a four star rating instead of five) is the web based app seems to have serious problems. I receive constant, albeit different, error messages in my attempts to access my notes on the web. The synching on my phone is quick and efficient but I'd like to be able to use their Inkspace app but have been unable to use it due to various errors. The "integration" with OneNote is not as I had hoped. I was hoping to be able to "see my notes" directly in OneNote but what I see is a file. In order to get my notes into OneNote the way I want (an image of the notes as I wrote them) is to print them to OneNote as a separate pdf note and then move the page into my official OneNote structure. Its a bit cumbersome, but still better then retyping notes, typing directly or using MS Surface to capture my notes (I like the feel of paper).
I'm hoping they fix the web issues and would like to see a better integration with OneNote. But again, the device itself is awesome and everyone who I show it to wants one for themselves.
