- My home is 1400 square feet about 5 years old
- I have AT&T fiber with almost all smart devices connecting to my 2.4 network (yes, I split up my 2.4 and 5 networks)
- This wemo is about 30 feet from my wifi router, with a few objects in the way, but a lot of open space in between
- Setup was easy inside of HomeKit, which is specifically why I purchased this unit
- I am all HomeKit in the house, so no Alexa or Google Asst.
- This wemo smart plug is powering another smart device we don’t want on 24/7, so I automated the wemo to turn on once we leave the home
- Thus far, it is working without a single issue
- The size is very small, compared to their older models and models of other units, thus, it isn’t an eye sore to look at nor does it cover up the socket below it
Recap- ever user experience is totally relative to their smart home setup. So far, I am very happy with this purchase.

Recap- ever user experience is totally relative to their smart home setup. So far, I am very happy with this purchase.
Devices give home a lived in street appearance and I use variable activation timing for each room there used.
Ive owned for quite some time now and am
more than satisfied with performance. People that may have perceived difficulties are likely not following directions for these devices. You need good 2.4Ghz wireless connection to set up! You may need additional Wi-Fi repeater depending on the strength or lack there of of your primary wireless router.
Very rarely do these Wemo plugs fail. If this happens…unplug for 10 seconds and plug in again to re-establish connection. If this does not work simply factory reset and then
set-up plug-in device again. Have patience and you will be successful! Also, always setup with your phone or iPad device using a 2.4Ghz network, not ever a 5Ghz network.
Wemo products fit perfectly in Apples iOS ecosystem…not intended for Amazon Alexa.
Strong recommendation!
So far so good. Here's an observation - sometimes with HomeKit - it shows a "!" mark next to the plug - like it cannot connect. But you go to the WEMO app - and it's not problem to turn off the switch. So that tells me HomeKit needs some improvements. And the switch works fine.
I will say this - pretty darn cool to walk into the house and say "Hey Siri - turn on my living room lights" and POOF - there is light.
