I really wanted to love this drive...
Words cannot fully express how dissatisfied I am with this drive. The drive advertises 1050 MB/s, yet can't even hit 45 MB/s...
I understand that its possible that I received a lemon, so I have ordered a replacement (and I will update my review accordingly when it arrives). After studying some other reviews I see there is a common theme: TONS of these devices are capped at speeds slower than a $5 SD card. The very fact that SanDisk, a company that is known for being a major player in the digital storage medium arena, has such ridiculously bad quality control speaks VOLUMES about the company's priorities.
Even if the replacement, works as advertised, I will second guess buying SanDisk devices from now on. There are other companies who make similar products and have great QC. For those looking for alternatives to this POS, I recommend trying out the Samsung T7 (with or without the touch function).
Again, I will update the review after the replacement arrives, but if I'm being honest, it is unlikely that I will raise it above 2 stars after this experience...
Update:
The replacement drive seems to be working as advertised. It's read/write speeds are nearly exactly the speeds you'd expect them to be. Nonetheless, I'm still scarred from the first drive I received. It's evident that QC is not a priority for SanDisk and this makes me concerned about the drive's longevity. I will keep updating as things progress.
