Product Description
Boss Katana-100 MkII 100W 1x12" Combo Amplifier
From the manufacturer
KATANA-100 MkII
THE EVOLUTION OF A MODERN CLASSIC
Katana MkII takes the acclaimed Katana guitar amp series to the next level, turbocharging the core platform with more sounds, more effects, and more features. Newly voiced variations are now available for all five amp characters, doubling the tonal options. And the onboard effects categories have been expanded from three to five, providing even more real-time processing to choose from. The usability has been ramped up too, with a power amp input for modelers and multi-FX, easy stereo expansion for dual amp setups, updated editor software, and many other enhancements.
More Sounds, More Versatility
The stage-class Katana MkII lineup picks up where the first generation left off, building on the same core tones and features that have made the series such a worldwide smash. If you loved the original Katana amps, you'll love Katana MkII even more. And if you're new to the party, get ready for sound, feel, and versatility that soars far beyond its class.
Five Amp Characters, Ten Overall Tones
Katana MkII's five primary amp characters offer everything from organic vintage tones to modern high-gain sounds, plus a dedicated voice optimized for acoustic-electric guitar. The characters have now been extended with newly voiced variations, providing a wider palette of tone options to craft your personal sound.
Stage-ready 100-watt combo amp
- Custom 12-inch speaker
- Class-defying power, authoritative punch, and cutting presence
- Five unique amp characters, plus newly voiced variations for each
- Five independent effects sections, each with three variations
- Dedicated Pedal FX for foot-controlled wah and pedal bend
- Stereo Expand out
- Power Amp In for preamps, modelers, and multi-effects
- Power Control for achieving cranked-amp tone and response at low volumes

Five Effects At OnceKatana MkII now includes five simultaneous effects categories, putting the tone-shaping power of a massive pedalboard right inside your amp. Independent Booster, Mod, FX, Delay, and Reverb sections come loaded from the factory with three variations in each, providing 15 ready-to-play effects to choose from. Connecting to BOSS Tone Studio lets you dive much deeper if you want—customize the sections with over 60 different effect types, change the order with four different chains, and much more. |
Full-Throttle Sound Every Time You Plug InBacked by BOSS's Tube Logic approach, Katana MkII delivers the authentic output distortion characteristics of genuine tube amplifiers, with the sound and feel becoming richer and more responsive as you turn up the volume. But unlike that classic tube amp, Katana MkII's variable Power Control makes it easy to fly in the sweet spot without getting fired from the gig or kicked out of the house. Just throttle back the overall volume as needed to enjoy inspiring, cranked-amp sound anywhere you play, from bedroom to stage. |
Amplify Your External GearThe Katana-100 MkII rocks as a standalone amp, but it also excels as a powered cabinet for a favorite preamp, modeler, or multi-effects unit. Connecting to the rear-panel Power Amp In jack bypasses Katana MkII's preamp and effects, letting you tap straight into the Tube Logic power section, complete with grab-and-go Power Control. And with BOSS Tone Studio, the input can be easily optimized for your particular gear with a high-pass filter and adjustable gain. |
One-Touch Recall Of Custom SetupsOne of the Katana-100 MkII's most powerful features is the ability to store favorite amp character and effects setups in Tone Setting memories for instant recall. After you've dialed in a sound with the panel controls, simply save it to the desired memory with a quick button hold. Eight Tone Settings (two banks of four) are available, with fast selection right from the panel. And for hands-free operation on the gig, just connect external footswitches or the GA-FC foot controller. |

---|---|---|---|
Stereo Made EasyOne Katana MkII sounds great, but playing two at once is even better. The new Stereo Expand feature makes linking two amps simple, with just one regular cable needed. You're able to control everything from the master Katana MkII, with stereo-compatible effects like chorus, delay, reverb, and others distributed across both amps for a wide, immersive sound field. Stereo Expand is supported on all 100-watt Katana MkII models. |
Ready-To-Mix Direct TonesThe Katana-100 MkII features line, USB, and phones/recording outputs with mic'd cabinet emulation, letting you send mix-ready amp tones to a PA system, computer DAW, or headphones. The direct sound can be shaped with three different Air Feel settings, which are accessible from BOSS Tone Studio. Two-channel USB operation is supported, allowing you to track in true stereo with many of Katana's modulation, EQ, delay, and reverb effects. |
Compact Gig CommanderThe optional GA-FC foot controller is the perfect partner for the Katana-100 MkII. It connects with a single cable, requires no external power, and features a slim, rugged profile that takes up minimal space. With six footswitches, you can directly recall Tone Settings and independently turn the five effects sections on/off. The GA-FC also supports external footswitches and expression pedals, with default assignments that include tap tempo, bank selection, foot volume, and Pedal FX. A large variety of custom assignments are available via BOSS Tone Studio, including expression pedal control of up to three parameters at once. |
BOSS Tone Studio EnhancementsBOSS Tone Studio has also evolved alongside the Katana MkII amplifiers. The interface has been updated with a refreshed look, and a number of parameters have been consolidated into the main screen for faster workflow. There's also a dedicated Pedal FX category, making it easier to assign wah and pedal bend effects to a connected expression pedal. And if you're a first-gen Katana owner, it's possible to import your custom patches and use them all with Katana MkII. |

The HUGE difference with this solid state amp compared to previous amps I've owned is the advanced Digital Signal Processing capability. Leveraging their years of expertise in DSP effects design and manufacturing, the Katana MKII is based on some of the latest technology there and I believe BOSS is well ahead of their competitors. There is so much packed into this amp. DSP based solid state amps have reached a new level beyond anything from the past. I ended up selling ALL of my old pedal effects and using the money to buy the BOSS GA-FC foot switch and FV-500L pdeal too. I absolutely love this amp and footswitch combination. I think the GA-FC at a minimum is a must to go with the amp. The FV-500L I use as an expression pedal for master volume control or I can switch the port that it's plugged into on the GA-FC for wah pedal or other pedal control. Setup of the expression pedal using the software is very easy and flexible to allow you to customize what and how you want to control a specific built in effect.
While you do not have to use the free software, I HIGHLY recommend you do. Only challenge was finding the software to download. It is not intuitive after getting to the website. Youll find different artists tones to download, but no easy to find link for the core software. Just click on any artist download then scroll ALL the way to bottom and you will find the core siftware. Other than this challenge, everyting else was breaze. You will need the appropriate USB cable though. It does not come with the amp. At least mine didnt. The software is very intuitive, easy to use, and is what allows you to set up all of the specific effects you want to control by the footswitch and capture your tone settings. You can capture tone settinga from the front pannel, but have greater customization via the software. Through the software you can change the finer settings of every effect, beyond what you can do on the Amp control panel.
The varations of tones and effects are absolutely outstanding. I've never had a better sounding or more capable amp. Now that I have it all 8 channels programmed with specific effects for each channel i can turn on or off by the footswitch, I do not even use the panel controls other than turning the power on and off.
With the 100W compared to 50W, getting 4 each channels and a Variation Amp Type button to great more storage tone combines is worth the extra money. It also gives you more than enough power to comfortably play over drums and bass in small to medium venue.
I also bought the specific cover for the amp. I believe this is the best sounding, most versatile, most capable, attractive, and best value amp on the market. I highly recommend this amp. Other than difficulty finding the software download initially, I cannot not find any issue or dissatisfaction with any aspect of this amp.
I deliberated about whether to buy the 50 watt or the 100 watt. I decided that I'd rather have more and need less than have less and need more.
The 50 watt would be plenty loud for home use and small venues.
I am very impressed with this amp. I've never been a tube amp snob but I've never played a solid state that sounds as good as this one.
There are plenty of videos on YouTube to describe the features and demo the sound.
The sound is huge, much bigger than you'd expect from a compact amp like this.
This thing has a bunch of built in Boss effects. It's loud, very loud!. The clean sounds are crisp, clear and professional sounding. The reverb is excellent: spring, plate and hall. It has built in delay, modulation, boost and 5 different amp sounds: acoustic, clean, crunch, lead and brown.
The price is way lower than you'd expect for an amp like this.
It's a keeper.
update: I couldn't get the Katana 100 MK2 to connect to my computer. I downloaded the driver and the software just as instructed but it would not connect.
I got a message that the firmware on the katana was an old version. Only after I updated the firmware did the computer and amplifier connect and work as they are supposed to. Just a heads up for anyone who reads this who may be having connection problems with their Boss Katana. Believe me, you want to connect this amplifier to your computer so you can use the Boss Tone Studio. It is how you can access all the different effects, and create your own patches. The instructions for the whole process are sketchy and I felt very uncertain throughout the whole process. I'm not a computer whiz but I'm not a novice either. An instructional video would have been nice! The more I use this amp the better I'm liking it.
