Product Description

Beets are a cool weather crop best sown directly in early spring, after the danger of frost has passed, or in early fall. They are sensitive to acidic soils and prefer a pH of 6.0-7.0. Plant 3-4 seeds 1/2" deep and 1-2" apart in fertile, organically rich, well-drained soil. Keep the soil moist for the first 21 days. Once true leaves are established, thin back to 1 plant every 2-3". After 45-55 days, beets should be 2-3" wide; but they can be harvested earlier if “baby” beets are preferred.

Keep plants well-watered during the growing season, especially during dry spells. Plants need about 1-2 inches of rain per week during the growing season. Use a rain gauge to check to see if you need to add water. It's best to water with a drip or trickle system that delivers water at low pressure at the soil level.
