5 Stars
If you want more out of your job, career and life
If you want more out of your job, career and life… this is a beautiful place to start with practical actions. Thank you Marie Kondo and Scott SonensheinThis book is not simply about organizing your workspace, it’s about changing the way you work to spark joy, make work easier and lead to future joy. What emerges from the practice of tidying - everything from your desk and electronic files to… meetings, networks and even decisions - is so much more. Clarity of purpose and what you love doing becomes clearer through this process.Honestly, I read this book months ago. I did it and am pleased to share this #visualbookreview not just as a reader but as an implementer of what I learned. So happy I did.

I love anything written by Marie Kondo. She puts stars in my eyes whenever it comes to looking at my belongings around me. The pages written by Scott Sonenshein are definitely not as captivating at Kondo's. I still think anyone who wants to claim reigns on their workspace should read this book.

The book came in perfect condition. I am a fan of Marie Kondo's shows on organizing and wanted to see ow her methods translate to a professional life. I read this book with my mentee to help with organizing her work space and to develop methods of organizing her daily tasks and digital files. We both enjoyed reading it and both authors had interesting topics.

Fan of Marie Kondo. This one deals specifically to organizing at work. How to figure out if stuff supports you and brings you joy or at least appreciation. Bow to what you have and thank it & put in the right place or let it go, for crying out loud. Stuff is MASS & WEIGHT. Takes up room in our homes, work places, and in our souls. THIS BOOK IS TO DEAL WITH WORKING WITH ONE'S STUFF AT WORK. GETTING ORGANIZED AT WORK. This can help folks to start the process and is transferable to those that craft or hobby at home and I seek that the most of all to help myself and others. As a feng shui Black Hat practicioner and spatial organizer personal coach, I hope to let friends of mine read this to inspire the change within themselves to accomplish making the stuff that is taking up space and ridding themselves of it or organize and honor it to support them physically, mentally and emotionally AT WORK, SPECIFICALLY but at home as well. Letting them read this helps the process. Eastern philosophy has so much to value and do in USA. We are just over-doing buying stuff and we can read this and know that we can and should deal with our stuff! Honor it. Let it go. Organize it better/properly. The book actually is a little larger than the other 2 books in her series. It is still small and light weight. Bought all 3 of the books in her break-out series, from 3 different vendors. Thankful it's winter solstice coming upon me to curl up and read as winter bears down on me. Delivery was fast! The book cover is really sticky and I keep wiping it to get that tacky feeling off. That's not really working. It's a tactically strange book to hold. Guess I will make a book cover if it is worth keeping and sharing with others. Will let folks know.

Great quick read for tip and tricks to organize your professional life to make way for a better personal life.

I think a consistent struggle is how do we succeed at work and at home. This gives a lot of simple ideas and presented in a more realistic way with life experiences. I think a lot seemed common sense but I wasn't doing them so it's a great reminder. One take a way for me was I thought I was doing a great job by answering everything the minute it comes in but realized that might actually be taking away from my overall goal.

Pros: Super easy read, real life stories, interesting and a lot of good take aways.
Cons: It's not the be all end all, not a quick fix you will have to put in the work.

Highly recommend reading for some good tips.

It's a fairly quick but enjoyable read. You can skim much of it. There are very few new insights in Joy at Work. Most of the advice and recommendations have been published in many other self help/productivity books eg. Meeting management, saying No to protect your time, handling emails and etc.

After reading Marie Kondo's and Scott Sonenshein's previous work and being a big fan of them, I really looked forward to this book, preordered it long ago and read it as soon as it came out.

Brilliant book, once again, lots of useful insights, very practical insights and backed up by solid academic research. The way we think and behave, make decisions, are creative or related to others more broadly has lots of to do with how we set up our environment for success, whether it is our physical environment or our digital one. There are many interesting take aways from this book, and I particularly like the ones related to decision making, meetings and teams. We spend so much time making decisions and relating with other at work and this book has clear points to make you a better decision maker and team player, empowering others while focusing your time on the high stake decisions that often scare us and stop us from thinking clearly.

Thank you Marie and Scott!

5.0 out of 5 stars Utile pour alléger sa charge de travail
Reviewed in France on May 23, 2020
