    The lamps work well. My orchids love it. The timer on/off switch is inconvenient. I removed my timer on/off switch as follows:Un-plug the USB power connector.Using small side-cutting pliers cut the cable that enters and leaves the timer on/off switch.Strip 1 inch of the black plastic wire sheath.The wire that has the USB connector has a red and a black wire inside the black sheath.The wire to the lamps has a red a yellow and a black wire.Connect the USB red to the lamp red and the USB black to the black and yellow wires.You will need to stop the bare wires from touching after they are twisted together. Electrical insulating tape would work.I soldered the wires together and used heat shrink to insulate them. Probably overkill.The USB power supply supplied with the lamps is rated 5VDC at 2Amps. This means it can supply 10 Watts. I presume the 50Watt rating refers to the tungsten filament lamp equivalent light output and not the LED lamp's power consumption.The electricity cost to run this grow lamp will be less than $7 a year if it is used 12 hours a day, 365 days a year.Plants need to sleep too.

    These are my absolute favorite grow lights. They are the only ones i will buy from now on. I’ve tried other brands and i have to say, these are so far the best I’ve purchased for several reasons. The color temperature is perfect, it’s not too warm even though it has a few red chips. Thats hard to get right and other brands have a pink tint or flat out purple. That pink light may be okay for flowering and fruiting plants but if you have mostly tropical plants, succulents, cacti or foliage plants then they aren’t really going to benefit much from that and might not get what they need. Of course all plants need a full spectrum of light to photosynthesize and thrive, but the blue light is more important for the most part. These lights provide the perfect balance and I’m not just saying that after one week of use, I’ve been using these all year and my plants love them. I noticed a huge difference within the first two weeks in terms of growth, overall health of the plants and my succulents are more colorful. No more stretching or leggy plants. The two heads make it very easy to cover a large area and crane the light where i need it. I have a large plant room / indoor garden with over 200 plants so I need a lot of lights and these are very affordable, effective and cover a large surface area when you utilize the light properly and get the correct distancing from the plants. Note, your plants DO NOT need to be directly up against the lights, you will burn them. They should be about 6 to 8 inches away in most cases, succulents can be a bit closer if they are full sun varieties. I use these lights for succulents, pothos, philodendrons, monsteras, palms, zabrinas, string of things like hearts, turtles, pearls, bananas, and a lot more, just to name a few. All my plants really love these lights and if I forget or skip a few nights then it’s noticeable. These are pretty bright when turned all the way up, sometimes I will run them at half strength if a plant is sensitive and hasn’t been acclimated to the light yet or if I just sprayed them for pests but in general I use them at full power. My lower light plants go more towards the back and the full sun loving varieties take a front row seat. You should build up to the amount of time your plants have under grow lights if you are a beginner so as to not burn your plants that may not be used to it yet. So start with 3 hours, than after a week or two maybe go to 5 or 6, and so on. They have built in timers but I override them with my own plug in timer because I find the presets very inconvenient. For example, the timer options are 4, 9 and 12 hours. Most of the time I need them for 6 hours because my plant room in a south facing room with many large windows so they get ample light for most of the day, I am just supplementing in the evenings. Still, that’s a huge jump from 4 to 9 hours with nothing in between. Not really a big deal and its a person preference but just something I wanted to take note of and I’d like to see more timer options in the future. The clamps are very secure, easy to move around when I need to, ( you can clip them to a table, shelf, plant stand or even a tripod, really anywhere.) and the goose neck style lamps are easy to bend and angle the light exactly where I need it. Over all, these are fantastic! Great value, great product and mine do not get hot. I have several of these running for 6 hours a day most days but they sometimes run 9 or 12 on rainy days, mine personally have not gotten hot, only the plugs get a little warm. Note, I have the 50 watt options, I never purchased the 100 watt, didn't think it was necessary. Sometimes more is not better and it doesn’t have to be as bright as the sun to be effective(unless you are doing seedlings lol) I have a feeling the 100 watt would be too much and burn my plants. You’d be surprised how much these 50 watt lamps put off and I have even placed plants several feet away and they are still benefiting from the light. Very happy with my purchases and I will be buying more in the future when I need them.

    We have a lot of plants that we usually keep on our porch during the summer. With winter coming, we knew that we'd have to bring them all inside. While some of these plants are kept close to windows and tend to get enough sunlight to keep them going, that's not the case with some others. For those, we needed lights. I stumbled upon this unit during my search and decided to order one just to see how well it would work.

    Our light was delivered right on time, and within a few minutes of opening the box we had it casting a glow over one of our most struggling plants. Not much to the light, really: there's twin flexible rods that can be bent in order to direct each light to where it's needed, and those rods stay in place very well. The rods are anchored to a plastic clip, much like you'd find on a small desk fan. This clip has a firm hold with non-slip pads on the gripper, and gives you tons of options for where you'd like to position the light--not happy with where you put it? It's very easy to move. The power cord terminates in a standard USB plug, and comes with a wall adapter.

    The power switch is located on the cord itself and comes with a few features. Of course there's the standard on/off positions, but there's also a dimmer: you don't have to use the light at full brightness if you're using it on a plant that prefers indirect sunlight. There's also a built-in timer that's pretty convenient, if a bit limited. You can use this timer to run the lights for 12-hours, say, after which the light will turn itself off, then turn itself back on after 12 hours of darkness. There's also four-hour and eight-hour modes if those suit your needs better. Losing power, at least on the unit I tested the idea with, will also lose your timer settings--so it might be a good idea to use a programable timer instead. However, at this price point, it's hard to complain too much about what is still a nice touch.

    The light produced is a clean and crisp white light, despite the presence of dedicated red LED diodes. Your plants will get the spectrum they use the most while you'll be able to appreciate their natural beauty. When I saw some of our leaves "reaching" for the bulb after a few days, that told me all I needed to know about whether the lights were going to be effective. I ordered a second set, which was also delivered promptly and has identical build quality.

    Now there's a third set on the way.

    So yeah, I recommend them!
