I will be careful to use caution to prevent water stains or scratches, however that is the case with all wood or wood-like finishes. I consider this a good value.

I love it my only problem is ypu can see the line where the pieces meet. But you get what you pay for with the low price. It is still really nice, and it was extremely easy to build. I put a coffee table runner over the top to cover the line and bam problem solved.
