About the Author

Joanna Gaines is the co-founder of Magnolia, a New York Times bestselling author, editor-in-chief of Magnolia Journal, and creator and co-owner of Magnolia Network.

Born in Kansas and raised in the Lone Star State, Jo graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Communications. It was an internship in New York City that prompted her desire to discover how she could create beauty for people. In a big city unknown to her, Jo always felt most at home whenever she stepped inside the cozy and thoughtfully curated boutique shops, which inspired her to open a shop of her own in Waco, Texas.

Alongside her passion for design and food, nothing inspires Jo more than time spent at home with Chip and their five kids.

Great book but arrived damaged

Great book but arrived damaged
This book was everything I wanted, especially from Joanna Gaines! After flipping through the pages, it just got even better. However, the book itself was ripped on the front page and I paid full price for that so I was a little disappointed to see that I probably will be getting it replaced.

This book is a treasure. It is beautiful, informative, and inspiring. It's broken out into thoughtful chapters and very clearly outlines how to think about designing for each space in the home. The writing is filled with love, positivity, and encouragement. I absolutely adore this book. I read it cover to cover, and couldn't get enough. I reference it often for my design projects and always keep it nearby. It just makes me happy, haha. If you're into interior design and Joanna Gaines' design aesthetic speaks to you, I highly recommend it.

a well-designed book. beautiful high quality pictures. a good guide for a beginner. At the end of the book there are several pages for your project. but for my taste, this author has too many rustic and farmhouse interiors in this book. the author himself writes that his parents’ house was a farmhouse. This style doesn’t really suit me, but others like it. I don’t like it when furniture is new but has an aged effect. it looks kind of artificial. I also don’t like large inscriptions like restaurant or laundry or something else. it cheapens the interior. but this is just my subjective opinion.

Very inspiring. Helps you hone in on what your personal style is. Lots of visuals and descriptive words for each look. The index at the end pulls it all together so you can flip quickly to what you want to see - even the extra pages at the end help you apply your style to your place. At the very least it's a great coffee table book.
