***note first: Buy it in the spring so you can leave the flaps open to train your dog. This is a great doggie door. I was scared to tackle the job of putting it in, but it was actually very easy. I love everything about this door. I have small dogs, but I got the 100 lb size just in case we ever got a bigger dog. Installation was easy, and the flaps work perfectly. It's cold right now and because of the magnets, the cold really isn't coming in. You have to train them how to go in and out, because they will have nothing to do with it. This is how I trained them: I taped both flaps up with duck tape. Used incentives to show them there was a hole they could come through. At first they wanted nothing to do with it. Just keep trying, and keep the flaps up. About a week later, I let the dogs out and closed the door. I noticed one used the doggie door to come back in. I left the flaps open for a month so they could get use to it. They actually started using it all the time. (for those of you who worry about bugs, I put a bug zapper on a stool right by the hole, inside) I finally put down one flap, and took the magnet off the bottom (it slides in and out). Again, you have to use incentives to let them know they can push it. Eventually they were going in and out with the one flap. We eventually put the other flap down (with the magnet). They were going in and out. We now have both magnets on both doors, and they use it beautifully. Love this door. If you were thinking about getting one, just do it!

Followed instructions, came out great. Had to extend and re-route some wiring I found behind the studs. Used “great stuff” foam under the “pass thru” in the wall for support, and planned/managed to catch a stud on one side of the door, so it’s very sturdy. 50% of the dogs took right to it. The other two need a while to get used to it.

Such a game changer with my escape artist of a pup. A garage door dog door was never an option and slider additions made it a moot point. The frame didn’t hold up well to active dogs, but the install and replacements were easy. I purchased an extra dog door cover though to lock the dogs out on the slide they should stay on. My dogs were able to push through the dog door cover when it wasn’t on the appropriate side. Overall good brand, but beware on the product / installation depending on your dog’s activity level.

New design is holding up great

They have updated the frame on this dog door since we got our first one a few years ago. IIRC, it used to be a bit of steel set inside a wide plastic frame. The mounting screws eventually broke right through the plastic after a while of dog traffic. Some wide washers took care of that for a while, until a whole corner of the plastic broke off, and the frame was practically dangling from the wall. Not to mention the lip that holds the door blocker in place, which got crimped easily and made it hard to insert and remove the blocker.

This new design is a fully steel frame, so I don't need any extra hardware to keep it firmly mounted to the wall. It is holding up much better than the old one. Plus the lip seems more resistant to crimping, at least so far.

After researching many different options, we selected this doggie door and it works exactly as we had hoped. It was easy to install, and after teaching our dog to go through without the flaps (he was scared at first), we have now added back one flap and he runs right through. It gives our dog (and us) the freedom to come and go, and we are not tied to getting up to open the door for him all the time. Great product!
