Product Description

The most advanced Cat Door ever. The SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Door has a double antenna, which reads a cat’s microchip when it comes into and goes out of the house. This allows you to restrict certain cats to indoor-only, whilst allowing other cats access to the outdoors. If your cat is not microchipped, the DualScan cat door can also be used with a SureFlap RFID Collar Tag. The DualScan cat door can store up to 32 cats and it is compatible with 9, 10 and 15 digit microchips (except those staring with 000, 010 or 020). A SureFlap Cat Door Mounting Adaptor is required for glass installations and one or more SureFlap Cat Door Tunnel Extenders may be required for wall installations. The DualScan cat door is battery powered using 4 AA batteries which last up to a year with normal use. When the batteries start to run low, an indicator light will flash. The DualScan cat door has a 4-way manual lock to enable locking to any combination of in/out and a central magnet on the door prevents it from flapping in the wind. The dimensions of the flap are 5 5/8" (W) x 4 3/4" (H). This is the smallest area your cat will have to pass through. Connect the Hub to a spare port on your home router. The Hub acts as the link between the cat door and the internet.
What's in the bundle box? Microchip Cat Door Connect, Hub, manual, four installation screws.

Very good high tech product, not 100%
4 Stars
Very good high tech product, not 100%
Overall, this is a very smart product, unlike anything on the market, and works well. It uses your cats existing microchip to determine who is allowed in and out of the house . This also means that raccoons and skunks cannot get in through the cat door. The fact that you can program every cat and see when they come in the door and out of the door is fantastic. You can set the door time to open and close and it will always let a cat back inside who might have accidentally gotten out. You use an app to control the door and it's easy to use and very intuitive. If you stay out late for dinner, then you can set the door to close at an earlier time using the app, so your pets are in safe. However, if you absolutely must keep a cat inside, known to the system to be an indoor only pet, it isn't 100% foolproof. Of course...Nothing in life is! I wanted to keep my kitten inside until he had all his shots, but continue letting the older cat in and out of the house on his own schedule. It worked okay in the beginning, but as the kitten got more and more curious about where the older cat was going, he figured out to wait for the older cat to start coming through the door and then he would squeeze his body underneath the older cat and get through the door! Both cats are indoor outdoor cats now and the door is still working very well. The batteries lasted about four months which I think is okay. There were a lot of complaints about the batteries expiring much sooner than that. I still wish there was another way to power it then batteries but that's okay.Make sure you do the measurements. I used an existing cat door hole but because this door opening is smaller, it's kind of awkward for my larger cat to get in and out easily. He can do it, but because of the size of the door you want to make sure it's not too low to the ground. He weighs 11 pounds and it is a tight fit.And finally, some feedback for the company who makes this....You have an amazing product!! However, you need to simplify your product line and offer all of the features in more of your products. Trying to find the right product, with all of the features I wanted, took me days of reading and I almost didn't buy it because it was so confusing! I understand you want to diversify your market and provide products at multiple price points because it's so darn expensive, but, your current method is just too confusing for the customers. And, please make the doors bigger for larger cats (and STILL include all the tech features). IT'S EXPENSIVE BUT IT'S WORTH IT!
Thank you for your feedback

3.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable
Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2020
I really liked the idea, but its an unreliable product. Just installed last week. Easy to put in, easy to set up, but it doesn't fully recognize what my cat is actually doing! Sometimes when she just peeks her head through, it marks her as "outside." Sometimes when she goes outside, it simply marks her as "looked through the window." Other times, it doesn't recognize at all that she has left the house outside the door. I have tried all the troubleshooting on the website and from the instruction manual. I called once a few days ago, and was on hold for too long so I hung up. Currently, I have been on hold for 3 hours (see attached photo) and I am still waiting. Does anyone actually work at their phone line? Very frustrating! For this much money, I would expect a very reliable product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best purchase for my cat that I've ever made.
Reviewed in Canada on July 15, 2021
This is the best purchase I have ever made for our cat.

I rescued my cat (here after known as Pippin/Pip) off the streets and took care of her babies when they came. She always wanted to be outside in the city but we couldn't trust that she wouldn't wander too far.
Now we live on a farm and Pip likes to be outside all day, then love to come in and relax on one of her numerous cat beds or soft blankets lol. We have our sure flap going from our porch into our shop where the shop cats live. There's food and water in there so I have no worries if the door ever malfunctions and she's outside or in the shop.

We are about to leave on a 2 week trip and I've been concerned about Pip and how she would fair inside for 2 weeks because no one could house sit for us. Now I don't have to worry. It took her a day to get used to it but now she's in an out like a breeze.

I highly recommend getting the hub with it as well! It sends you alerts when the cat comes in and out and tells out how much time they've been outside. You can also lock and unlock the door from the sure pet app which is nice, but I haven't actually used this feature yet. It's also nice to see trends in her in/out behavior, and you can also see how full the battery is on the door itself.
We've actually discovered that she prefers to be out at night instead of during the day.

I LOVE this product. It's given me so much peace of mind and our cat is way happier

The ONLY issue I had which is partially our own problem, is that the wall was so thick that we installed it in, that we had to come up with an alternative solution to join the two ends. This is not their problem, but we looked into buying the sure flap extenders/connectors and they were $30 per 2" which felt a bit excessive.

The product has cost us a lot of money.
1. Severe heat leak which has messed with house energy consumption.
2. Wind noise on windy days. I can feel the wind even when sitting far from it.
3. Always incorrect state saying cat is out while cat just looked out and didn't even try to open the flap.
4. Flap doesn't close on a windy day and wind blows it open.

If you are thinking about buying something like this. Avoid this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pet door bella, app facile
Reviewed in Italy on October 7, 2020
- gestione remota dell’apertura e chiusura.
