Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

Hiccup, now 20, is the tenacious, spirited son of Stoick the Vast, cheifman of Berk. No longer a runt, but still lanky by comparison. Hiccup is the island’s ace flier and resident dragon expert.

Personality: Witty, sarcastic, compassionate and empathetic.

Astrid Hofferson

Astrid, 20, is the self-assured, competitive champion of the Dragon Races and Hiccup’s longtime girlfriend. She’s tough and rational, providing Hiccup with a blunt voice of reason while remaining his most outspoken supporter.

Personality: Dutiful, competitive and emotionally driven.

Toothless - Night Fury

Once thought of as the “unholy offspring of lightning and death itself,” Toothless (20 in dragon years) has proven to be much more of a giant, winged pussycat than the stuff of nightmares.

Personality: Playful, inquisitive, intelligent, loyal and empathetic with boundless puppy-like energy.

Light Fury

The Light Fury hides seamlessly in clouds, sea fog and distant horizons. Although skittish and skeptical of humans, the Light Fury also shares Toothless’ deep sense of empathy and will always wield her plasma blasts to defend any in need.

Personality: Beguiling blot from the blue!

Stormfly - Deadly Nadder

Although she preens and grooms herself like the most fastidious of birds. Stormfly actually possesses a playful spirit.

Personality: Precise and cunning in battle, yet warm and affectionate with friends old and new.

Meatlug - Gronckle

Unlike other Gronckles, Meatlug is actually a very sweet and affectionate dragon, especially with her rider Fishlegs.

Personality: Exceedingly demonstrative and sweet, yet quite self-conscious despite her thick hide.

Barf and Belch - Hideous Zippleback

The only time these two see eye-to-eye is when enjoying a nice display of destruction - usually caused by Ruffnut & Tuffnut!

Personality: Truly a split personality! Barf & Belch are each fiercely independent, yet inextricably linked.

Product Description

From DreamWorks Animation comes a surprising tale about growing up, finding the courage to face the unknown…and how nothing can ever train you to let go. What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic trilogy spanning their lives. When the sudden appearance of a female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth. In this last chapter, Hiccup and Toothless will finally discover their true destinies, and dragon and rider will fight together to protect everything they've grown to treasure.

Best...animated...series...ever!!!
Hidden World is the final fantastic chapter in a fabulous book of dragons that began with how To Train Your Dragon, proceeded through two more films and several series and specials, and filled my house with dragons. Fun enough for kids, but with enough deeper themes for adults. Stunning visuals: landscapes, seascapes, fabulously designed villages and boats and ...dragons! The artists did their Norse research, then ran with it. They studied all kinds of animals, their behavior, how they move, and flight to create some of the most believable "cartoons" ever. There is no end of brilliant action, but it's the depth of emotion and character that drives these stories. Unlike many other tales, HTTYD shows us kids growing up, overcoming obstacles, coming into adulthood... and while they live in a fantastic world full of dragons, the problems and obstacles are familiar to us all.Cressida Cowell's books were hilarious, quirky and fun, full of fabulous scribbly cartoons, and clever enough to engage even reluctant readers. But Dreamwork's film series takes the Dragons to a whole 'nother level.

I’m not the biggest fan of this computer-animated How to Train Your Dragon saga. But the children have a very different opinion. This 3rd film, in what has become a franchise, was eagerly anticipated by them after they had been sucked into the TV series since the previous instalment, from over 4 years ago.. As a cartoon sequel you would expect the movie to heavily appeal to young viewer’s common familiarity with the How to Train Your Dragon concept. The storyline and events in many aspects indeed follow the same trusted path as the previous instalments. However there is more character development here. And the movie feels reasonably fresh. Frankly, I found it a pleasure to watch along with the children. Moreover, quite unusual for a sequel in a successful franchise, this last part of the trilogy seems to end in a conclusive manner.

We get some more background on the key character, Hiccup we learn how he is raised by his father Stoick the Vast, cheifman of Berk, ever sad after losing his wife. Hiccup is also disabled, but this is dealt with in a subtle, matter of fact manner. In fact Hiccup now, next to being a dragon expert and has a leadership role, succeeding his father. And he has to search for the secret ancestral homeland of the Dragons, as the title suggests. Quite a few big actors have small funny roles and one of my favourite actors F Murray Abraham, voices the pretty disturbing bad guy.

The animation is brilliant. The dragons have been animated with a lot of detail and the overall animation seems to have seen an improvement over the past 2 movies. The 3D version we ordered really puts you on the back of a dragon racing through the sky across magnificent Viking worlds. It draws you into with magnificent deep-coloured scenes and pastel-coloured vista’s of the hidden dragon homelands.
And I must say I loved the music.

Quite satisfying.
