5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant phone

After 3 years of solid use, it’s finally time to retire my Oppo X2.

A great device, and really high quality. A flagship phone for Oppo and that’s obvious. Great camera, performance and battery life. Screen is nice and speakers also great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super fast charging is the winning feature

Review after two months of use

    PROS
One of the best screens currently in the market
Came with the screen protector applied and a clear case
Battery lasts a day with average 5-6 hr screen time (mostly browsing, not gaming)
Coloros has improved quite a lot. Clean software. Minimum bloatware which can be uninstalled. Ram locking is a useful feature from the os.
Decent selection of cameras with comparable quality to the big brands.
Very impressive charging. Does not overheat at all. Takes 25 min from 10 to 90 percent. To be fair, lacks wireless charging, but with this speed I don't care about that.
Ample storage at 512g and fast.
Overall a snappy device as expected with sd865 and 12gig ram
Waterproof so no issues in rain
    Good stereo speaker quality

    CONS
The main gripe I have is the curved screen. It looks amazing but I would prefer flat edges. Although I haven't experienced any phantom touches .. but the screen protector refuses to stay put. It keeps peeling from the curved edges. Glass screen protectors can't also deal with the curves. For me curved screen, although beautiful to look at, is a major downside. Taking away a star only for this.
Another minor thing is the placement of physical buttons on either side. They are right in the middle of the phone. Although ergonomically they are easy to reach while holding with one hand, but due to this location, forget about thinking to put it on a tripod or a gimble. The buttons will get crushed in that case.
The original rrp of 1200£ was way overpriced. Now at 800£ worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Android Handset? ....... quite possibly
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 30, 2020
I've had a few Samsung handsets in my time and they have always been "OK" but the bloatware, data drops, signal issues and having to put up with the Exynos proc has always niggled.

So I thought I'd give the Oppo Find X2 Pro a go. My main reason was after a g**gle search for signal strengths on various Android handsets and this device received a great review. Well they were right, the signal strength is consistently better by quite a few dBm! In addition the camera is awesome with a great zoom/useable images and the screen is lovely. Samsung make great screens but they are always over saturated (even with user adjustments to the Vivid profile) and using natural tone results in yellowing of web pages etc ..... not with the Oppo.

Battery life is reasonably good. Response is very fast. Size is perfect and audio is good from the built-in speakers

Supports VoLTE/WiFi calling on BT mobile, 3 and O2 (those are what I have tested)

My only concern with this will be support of system updates. Currently in the UK stuck on "A.30" which only has July security patch whereas other regions globally are up on A.40/42 with a later security update. Time will tell.

4.0 out of 5 stars Display very good, Camera good but not perfect
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 23, 2021
Bought a findx2 to replace my almost 3 year-old Huawei View 20, mainly thinking the camera is better after reading various findx2 reviews.

Compared with my ~3yo View20, on the findx2:

    - camera is slightly better
    - the findx2 amoled display is a lot better (vs the LCD on the View20)
    - battery life is slightly worse

    Camera of findx2 vs View20:
    - Slightly less colour noise on the main ('standard-wide') camera
    - Has the 5x zoom camera, which gives clearly better 5x zoom photos
    - Has the ultra-wide, which may be useful in some scenarios, although the level of detail from the ultra-wide is clearly less then the main/wide camera
    - The ultra-wide can also do macro shots which can also come in useful in some use cases

None of the cameras on the findx2 are perfect. Even the main camera has visible noise in indoor shots and even in cloudy-day outdoor ones. Focus on portraits with the main camera is mostly ok, but sometimes a bit off. The zoom camera is not great in low light. The main and ultra-wide cameras show noticeable distortion and colour fringing at edges in landscape photos. However, as a whole package, the findx2 camera is slightly ahead of the View20, bearing in mind the extra zoom and macro lens capability it offers.

It can shoot RAW, but (even on the main camera) only up to 12 Mpixel (4000x3000): it does not support 48 Mpixel RAW. Besides, to extract better processed photos from RAW than the built-in camera app offers is too much hassle for the normal user. Generally the 12 Mpixel jpegs from the main camera are ok, except that they are a bit too over-sharpened by the oppo software.

The 48 Mpixel jpegs that the oppo camera app produces from the main camera look like they are upscaled from 12 Mpixel raw data, they do not add much detail vs the equivalent 12 Mpixel images

    - Battery lasted me about 24 hours in the last 2 days, and I have used it in this time more than I would usually do, because I have been playing with the camera to see how it behaves. Looking at it right now... it shows battery at 20% (down from 99%) after 20 hours of use out of which 5h5min of screen-on time at 60% brightness.

UPDATES AFTER ONE WEEK USING MY FINDX2

The main camera has a noticeable 'flare' issue: strong light falling on the lens causes the photos to 'haze-over' and/or creates flare lines/bands on the photos. This can happen both with (a) light sources in the frame (e.g., sun-in-the-frame daylight photos, lamps/lights-in-the-frame at night) and (b) light sources falling sideways on the lens (e.g. sun is not in the frame but sunlight falls on the lens) - in the latter case I can sometimes get better results by shading the lens with my hand. Of course, keeping the lens clean is important, but I see strong flare on main camera photos even with a perfectly clean lens.

The ultra-wide camera suffers much less from flare.

The other issue I found is that OPPO have a shortcut whereby pressing the power+volume-up buttons together turns off the phone ringing and puts it into vibrate mode. This is super annoying, as it is very easy to unintentionally press these buttons when picking up the phone, which results is the phone not ringing and potentially important calls being missed. I called OPPO support asking how to disable this feature through settings and they told me this is impossible. I find it quite annoying that such a crippling 'feature' cannot be disabled!! Doing some googling I found many people complaining about this same issue on OnePlus phones, but looks like Oppo are not taking user feedback seriously, at least in this case -- they should have added the option to disable this in settings long ago.

Despite these extra issues I found, overall I leave my [updated] review rating at 4 stars, because I still find the display and battery good, and the ultra-wide+wide+zoom camera combination fairly good on the findx2 (albeit not perfect as I explained above).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value for money device
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 8, 2020
I have been looking for a new phone for the last few months and I really struggled as I'm not an iPhone fan, Samsung is taking the @#*! by selling phones with inferior processor in Europe compared to the American and Asian Market and i can't live without Google services so Huawei was not an option. After a lot of research i found the oppo find x2 Pro. It was going to be this or an oneplus device. I have been using the phone for the past two days and all im going to say is that this phone is ridiculously fast, the screen is absolutely amazing and the dolby atmos speaker are fantastic. It sounds very like a portable Bluetooth speaker. Of course no mobile phone is perfect and this is not an exception here. The battery life is a bit bad, specially if you have the phone constantly connected to the WiFi and use quad hd resolution and the 120 hertz refresh rate. However the phone can charge from zero to max in 38 minutes. Camera is OK but I'm not a huge fan of photography so i can't give an honest opinion. I bought this when they dropped the price to £799 as at this price its a no brainer
