I have blonde hair and recently I’ve added about 2 inches of purple hair dye to the bottom of my hair and it has DESTROYED my hair! I use John Frieda purple shampoo and conditioner and it not only keeps my blonde hair fresh, soft, and shiny but it surprisingly not only makes my hair healthy but allows the purple hair dye that’s in my hair healthy as well (even though this product is only intended for blonde hair and not other hair colors). This product is so amazing and I would always recommend this product and nothing else for people with blonde hair. It truly replenishes any damaged hair and keeps the hair strong and healthy to grow out well. I would use no other products than these.

I have used multiple purple shampoos over the last 30+ years, ranging from super expensive to dirt cheap. I however have never tried this until now.

On a scale from 1-10 the lather was only a Score:4
The smell was clean and not over powering, but did not last long. Score:6
Removing brass from my hair: 7
Combability without conditioner: 8
I have dry thin/fine hair and it surprisingly made my hair feel thicker without weighing it down.

After reading the reviews I had high hopes that it would not stain my hands. However that was not the case. Score: 2. Not only did it stain my hands but witch hazel which is my usual removal process would not remove it. Neither would soap in water. I ended up having to use a little bit of acetone to get it off which dried up my hands.

Overall it’s about a 6 out of 10. Not amazing, but not horrible either. If you’re looking for a decent inexpensive purple shampoo this will work for you.

I have no idea why, but my normally brassy lightened hair had a pink tint, which this shampoo made even more pink, while staining my hands. In the past, even the least pigmented light purple toner has neutralized my brassy hair. I gave it another chance, since everyone I talked to (including a friend who specializes in dying blonde hair) suggested purple shampoo, but I ended up returning it. Instead, I used head & shoulders (the ingredients can remove some stubborn semi permanent colors that you may not know are still present in your hair and also causes some kind of chemical reaction to lighten hair a bit) to get a cooler tone.
