“Heartbreaking…Go read the book, everyone.” —Alex Cooper, host of the Call Her Daddy podcast
Megan Fox showcases her wicked humor throughout a heartbreaking and dark collection of poetry. Over the course of more than seventy poems Fox chronicles all the ways in which we fit ourselves into the shape of the ones we love, even if it means losing ourselves in the process.
“These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence. I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins. My freedom lives in these pages, and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness,” says Fox.
Pretty Boys Are Poisonous marks the powerful debut from one of the most well-known women of our time. Turn the page, bite the apple, and sink your teeth into the most deliciously compelling and addictive books you’ll read all year.

I found some of her poems to be hard hitting, relatable, vulnerable, and heart wrenching. Personal life choices aside, it is evident that Megan is intelligent, articulate, and put effort into her debut collection.
I found myself in tears on several occasions and stretched out reading this little book over several days. The subject matter is serious and potentially triggering. If content referencing domestic violence, sexual assault, verbal and emotional abuse, and/or child loss is tricky for you, tread carefully.
The artwork accompanying the poetry is beautiful and adds to overall aesthetic of the book. The book itself is petite and perfect to keep on the nightstand.
I had to return and exchange this book due to some weird scuffing on the cover. It has like a rose petal type finish so probably got damaged in shipping. That’s Amazon’s fault. I wish they would ship books better.
Overall, I am happy with this purchase and unlike other celebrity poetry collections I’ve read, this one feels cohesive and not a low/no effort cash grab. For her debut, I think it’s definitely worth the read.
I do hope Megan finds happiness and a safe place for herself to heal.

Fox's writing is not just beautiful, it's insightful. Her intelligence shines through every page, making each word, each line, feel like a revelation. The poem "Pomegranates for Sale" stood out to me particularly, with lines like "I know that I'm too good for you" encapsulating the strength and self-awareness that permeates this work.
One of the most striking aspects of Fox's book is her candid exploration of the violence directed towards her. I think that her willingness to share these experiences is not just brave; it's a powerful commentary on the duality of beauty as both a gift and a curse. Through her words, Fox invites us into her world, showing us the harsh realities that often accompany outward beauty.
In conclusion, I loved this book and I think it's a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the deeper, often unspoken sides of beauty and fame. Megan Fox doesn't just tell a story, she is sharing her journey with a raw honesty that is as rare as it is moving. This book of poetry is a testament to her strength, resilience, and remarkable talent as an artist.
Finished it in 40 minutes. Not a hard read, but definitely deep and thought provoking.
