Anyone who currently or will soon prepare for the elder years of life should read this book. Thank you Joy Loverde for writing this book and for the support and comfort we all need.
however, there was little in the book i found helpful for me at this point, as i have made most of these arrangements. it is a good book to share and discuss with others and even your kids and grandkids!
It's now been about 20 months since I lost my mom. I'm disabled and after seeing how each of my parents died, knowing I don't have a "me" to provide me with a safe home and loving care, I've gotten extremely concerned about my future.
The pandemic has shown a very harsh light on my non-existent social network. I'd given up what little I had after my dad died to tend to my mom's needs. Coming back to the world after the worst of my grief has passed, this book now is the best kick in the butt I need and am ready for.
I'll repeat what someone said in their review some time ago: take it in small bites, it's a comprehensive and thought-provoking read ... an instruction manual for a better, more peaceful aging.
