Alexa Together makes things easier for you, too

With innovative features and real-time updates, Alexa Together makes it easier than ever for you to care for your loved one.

Designed with
privacy in mind

As with Alexa and all Echo devices, Alexa Together is designed with multiple layers of privacy protection. Your loved one will need to allow access for you to use certain features like Remote Assist and adding additional family members to your circle of support. They can revoke this access or delete the Alexa Together relationship at any time. Likewise, you’ll only be shown high-level information about your loved one in the activity feed.

Frequently asked questions

Overview & access

What is Alexa Together?v

Alexa Together is a new subscription service that is designed to give the entire family peace of mind and help aging loved ones feel more comfortable and confident to live independently. The new service has many features including 24/7 hands-free access to professional Urgent Response agents that can get your loved one the assistance they need if they say, “Alexa, call for help.” If a compatible third-party device detects a fall or a button is pressed on the device, the device can send a signal to prompt Alexa to ask if the person receiving support wants to call Urgent Response. Our opt-in Remote Assist feature allows you to manage device settings, remotely set reminders, or connect a music service on your loved one’s devices. The activity feed shows a generalized view of your loved one’s interactions, so you know they are active around the house. You can also create alerts to be notified of your loved one's first Alexa interaction of the day, their smart home device use, or if no activity is detected between certain times. Circle of Support allows you to add up to 10 additional family members or friends to support your aging loved one.

Is there a cost to use Alexa Together?

U.S. customers can sign up for a free trial of Alexa Together. After the trial period ends, customers will automatically be charged $19.99/month (plus tax).

Who can purchase the Alexa Together subscription?

You only need one active subscription to use Alexa Together, and either the customer providing or receiving support can purchase it. You can also purchase the Alexa Together subscription if you want to take advantage of the hands-free 24/7 access to Urgent Response, and you do not need a family member to support you. You may cancel your free trial or subscription at any time by contacting Customer Service or managing your subscription through Your Memberships and Subscriptions.

Get started

What do I need to get started?

You will need to purchase one Alexa Together plan, either monthly or annual. If you are buying Alexa Together for yourself for peace of mind using Urgent Response, or receiving support from a family member, you will need an Echo or Alexa-enabled device and wifi. If you are the person providing support to a loved one, you only need the Alexa app downloaded to your phone. For a better experience, we do recommend that the person providing support also has an Echo device to use features like Alexa Calling or Drop In, or to enable video chat if both people have an Echo Show.

How many Echo devices do I need to use Alexa Together?

The person receiving support only needs one Echo or Alexa-enabled device in their home to use Alexa Together. However, for the best experience, we recommend placing devices in rooms throughout the house. For example, place an Echo Show where the person receiving support spends a lot of time during their day and an Echo Dot in other rooms. Then, Alexa will be available to help more throughout the day and be there if they call for help. Smart home devices like smart lights or motion sensors are also useful in getting more signals about the activities in their space as they go about their day.

Can multiple people use Alexa Together to support a loved one together?

Yes, you can add up to 10 additional family members or friends with the Circle of Support feature to help support you and your loved one.

Can I use Alexa Together to provide support for multiple people?

At this time, you can only support one person through Alexa Together.

How can I help my loved one get set up with a new Alexa-enabled device?

To set up your loved one’s Echo device first, such as an Echo Show, send the device to yourself and choose the gift option at shipping to prevent your account from syncing with the device. Follow the instructions for the overall device setup process, including how to save your loved one’s wifi network to their device before sending it to them.

Photo Sharing

How does Photo Sharing work?

Care Givers in a Circle of Support can share photos directly to their Care Receiver's Echo Show and the photos will automatically rotate through on the Care Receiver's display background. Photo Sharing does not require any additional signups, invites, or manual configurations. Care Givers can share photos using the Alexa app, or directly from the Camera Roll on their smart phone, and those photos will magically start displaying on their Care Receiver's Echo Show.

How do I share photos?

Care Givers can share photos directly to their loved one's Echo Show device using the Alexa app, or directly from their smart phone's Camera Roll.

To share a photo using the Alexa app:

1) Open the Alexa app and go to Alexa Together Dashboard
2) Click on the camera icon
3) Select the photo you want to share
4) Select the Care Receiver's name
5) Select the share button

To share a photo through the Camera Roll on your smart phone: (Note: You still need to download the Alexa app to use this option)

1) Go to the Camera Roll on your smart phone
2) Select the photo you want to share
3) Select share icon
4) Select the Alexa app icon in the share options
5) Select the Care Receiver's name
6) Select the share button

When will my loved one receive the photo?

When a Care Giver shares a photo with their Care Receiver, the new photo may not show up right away. It takes up to 2 hours for the Echo Show's rotating content panel to update and for the new photo to rotate through.

What happens when I share a photo for the first time?

When a Care Giver shares photos with their Care Receiver for the first time, they need to check with the Care Receiver and make sure the Care Receiver’s device is plugged in and online. If the Care Receiver’s device is not online and the first photo is shared, the Alexa Together group photo album will be created, but the album won’t be automatically set to rotate on the Care Receiver’s background display. The only way to get the album to display from here would be to have the Care Receiver set the album to display manually by going to the device's display settings. Settings → Clock & Photo Display → “Change” on Amazon Photos → select specific Alexa Together group album

How do I remove the Alexa Together Photo album from displaying?
There are 3 ways to remove the Alexa Together group album, from displaying on the Care Receiver's device.

1) Via the device display: settings → Clock & Photo Display → “Change” on Amazon Photos → deselect specific Alexa Together group album
2) Via the Alexa app: device → pick specific device → Photo Display → More Collections → deselect specific Alexa Together group album
3) Log in to Amazon Photos using the same Amazon account information you use for Alexa Together. You will be able to 1) deselect the specific Alexa Together group albums and/or 2) delete specific photos from the Alexa Together group album

How do I remove a specific photo?

To remove a specific photo from displaying on the Care Receiver's device:

Log in to Amazon Photos using the same Amazon account information you use for Alexa Together. You will be able to click on the Alexa Together group album, and then find and select the specific photo you want to delete.

What happens to my photos if the subscription is cancelled?

If the Alexa Together subscription is cancelled, we will automatically remove the Alexa Together group album from the Care Receiver's device display as it's a paid Alexa Together subscription feature.

What happens if the Care Giver leaves or is removed from my Circle of Support?

If a Care Giver leaves or is removed from an Alexa Together Circle of Support, they can still share photos to a Care Receiver through the Alexa app, but those photos won’t automatically start rotating on the Care Receiver's display. The Care Receiver would have to then manually configure settings on the Echo Show to add those photos to the display rotation.

Can you share videos?

You can only share videos on iOS. Video sharing on Android is not supported at this time.
