    Big Bang for the buck!
March 2023- not even 3 years in and a section of the backlight has failed. Since this tv has local dimming, the back light is divided into small sections. My screen has a well defined rectangle of noticeable darkness in the right third, halfway down. The tv is still functional, but the spot is very distracting.Another thing- I attached an AppleTV, mostly on a whim, and despite my very best efforts to calibrate the display, the Apple TV generates better color than the tv itself. The AppleTV box will calibrate the color at the source after it measures your screen output using an iPhone. That’s great and all, but it defeats having the smart features via Android. Also, the Dolby Vision / HDR seems to be really dark now. Could be me or the change in content, but I definitely hate it. I set the AppleTV to output strictly in SDR. The brightness and color is phenomenally better this way.Would I recommend this tv or brand to someone buying it new? Sure. It’s a great QLED tv for the price. I believe you can get quantum color even cheaper now. Would I buy another one myself? Maybe, if price was right and I got to observe it in person. But given the issues that developed at just under 3 years, I would consider all options very carefully.Day 19:No more than I wrote this review, an update was released that let me turn off the TV speakers for use with the optical-OUT. Still an astonishing TV for the price point. Overall a great experience so far. Android users will love this TV, especially if they are familiar with all the ways to tweak android devices.Time will tell more...unless I'm too busy watching TV.(May2020) Day one: will update as needed. This tv ticks all the boxes. It’s Android TV, so if you’ve ever used anything Android (proficiently), this TV will be a comfortable but detailed experience. If you are an average user, and let it do what it does using the automated optimization, you will be blown away. “Cinephiles” will be largely impressed, but some tinkering will be in order. Let’s cover some highs and lows...Highs:- great color in general thanks to Quantum Dot technology-easy setup if you have a Google account. If not, you’ll probably want to make one.-great sound for built in speakers. The Dolby Atmos works really well. If you have a surround sound system that supports Atmos (I don’t), I imagine it would be downright magical.-out of the box, the original remote operates my Vizio soundbar (but there’s a catch), and the Amazon FireStick! This may be the most pleasant of all surprises.-Kodi... directly from the Play Store. It does all those Kodi things that you tell it to do. If you know Kodi, you know to do with it.-automation content detection. This is mind blowing. It recognizes what you are viewing and then applies optimal settings based on content. All told, it does a pretty good job of it.-ChromeCast built in, and works well.Lows (and not THAT low):- the soundbar... glad you stuck around for the catch. In most cases, when running a soundbar, you’ll want to disable the onboard speakers. On this tv, you can do that if you use HDMI-ARC, or Bluetooth. There’s no option to turn it off for optical. Some digging in the forums revealed that this is actually a minor bug in the software. A fix has been developed but release is delayed due to COVID-19. To work around it, just plug any 3.5mm cable into the headphone jack on the back. You’ll get a couple of safety warnings because it thinks you have headphones on. After that, speakers are disabled. It’s simple, and crude, and damned effective.- lots of settings details that may go too deep for casual users. YouTube can be your friend here.- mounting... if you are replacing a tv and reusing the wall mount, expect to lower it to maintain similar heights. The VESA mount point sit very low on this tv. I dropped mine a full 10 inches to keep it reasonable. Otherwise I think it would have been on the ceiling. The pattern on this is on the smaller side for its size too. If you watch your numbers, you can get by with a mount that claims to top out at 55”. Doesn’t matter as long as the spacing and weight is compatible.-delivery... this one blows my mind. I ordered on 5/29/20 with delivery expected June 6. On June 5, around 9pm, I get a notification that it shipped! Stay with me here....Then, the following morning I get an alert from my security cameras AT 6:30AM!! It’s the delivery guy!! Shortly after, Amazon sends a delivery notification. Granted, I ordered the 65”. That’s too big for the standard FedEx or UPS truck. This guy was driving an Enterprise rental box truck. The tracking number appeared to be to be an Amazon tracking number mean they delivered it with a contract carrier or Amazon delivery. (Usually starts with “TBA”). Dude just casually drops it on the back porch. He was smooth; my dogs didn’t even notice. The TV is in perfect condition however, so the process worked, I suppose. As I understand it, the 55” and smaller, are small enough to ship with the other guys. Most of those arrive broken.TL;DRGreat tv for $700. Remote works Vizio soundbar and FireStick. Yes, Kodi works fine. Turn on Developer Mode and sideload too. Quirks to be handled using a soundbar on the optical output. Delivery will be dropped without contact, so plan to be there for it. Yeah. Cool.

Been keeping an eye out on a Hisense TV for a year now. Mainly due to the Android TV OS. The only other brand using this platform is Sony which I also owned and loved it. The down side is Sony's price. Yes the picture is a more accurate one, but I love trying different technologies and brands. Well last year the only Hisense TV even worth buying was the 9 series which start at 55" and since I was buying for the bedroom I'd prefer a good 50" at much lower price. I didn't mind getting the 55" but every where you they were sold out and online sites who had them sold way above the retail price, so I waited. Then this TV came along this past month. Yes last year this Hisense had this 8 series out at a cheap price but not nearly as advanced as this years, so I bought two. I'd say this TV is almost on par w/ the 9 series of last year, but still updated software and remote and some actually better features. The Hisense version of Oled the Uled is not bad. Very vivid and this tv is very bright. Believe me on that, and viewing angles are also great. The motion features as all other reviewers mentioned are garbage. Color accuracy is not great, but still very good for half the price of more of other TV's. I must say I have not played with calibrating the set yet, so know fine tuning it better - which takes time, I positive the picture can a d will be more accurate. The Atmos sound is actually much better than expected, it's load. Playing music and bass is very impressive for a TV. Movies even sound great, and no doubt loud enough for 85% of people who buy this tv, who will choose not to buy a soundbar. Android TV setup is very clean and fast! More Apps from the Store than I thought, plus any App they don't have can be sideloaded. Kodi, Plex, and other media players many Firestick users can be also used on this TV, so no need to buy an addons. I hooked a 2TB Mini Laptop SSD Drive one of the USB and instantly formatted it, and now this 8GB TV is a 2TB powerhouse of storage. Downside USB ports are not at least 3.0 to fully maximize speed of external SSD. But still quick. Voice assistant works properly, remote is not the best but works. Can add any Bluetooth Remote of your choice to improve navigation, or adds a Keyboard and mouse, or even a one in all Remote, keyboard, and touchpad. No connection issues so far. TV arrived in perfect shape( Was a worry of mine). Overall without question for the price this TV can not be beat for Picture Quality, Sound, Android OS, and Design (Which could use a little improvement)
    Cons:
*Yes the stupid 1/4in black trim that that blends in with the bevel is a disappointment. Not only does it take almost an inch from the Picture size but makes the small bezel look like an old fashioned TV w/ an 1/2 bezel. Reminds me of Small Bezeled Laptops with the black trim lining on the outside most of the screen but worse. *Old HDMI inputs on a 2020 new model tv also degrades the TV and it's potential.
    *USB 2.0 Ports (Outdated)
*No Backlight on remote, no quick exit from menu, no quick menu options to change pic & sound modes quickly when changing from what your watching. If I want to listen to a news report, music, or movie I don't want to have to go through the whole menu to change modes only to change back modes when switching back to movies.
***** Bottom line BUY THIS TV*******
Having both a top end Sony Android TV, and this Hisense, the difference in Overall Quality is not much difference between the two. The big difference compared is the Price Tag. If you have lots if money to pay twice the price for a TV that's a tad bit better, then go with the Sony.
    ^ I'd love to test out the2020^

Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2020
I had high hopes for this TV considering the reviews and tech specs, however there is a huge flaw with the software that makes the display distorted and therefore the onboard apps are useless.
With most TV's you have the option to adjust the picture "Wide, Narrow, Cinema, Zoom, etc.". These aren't the best thing in the world but they can help if you're not getting in a proper signal from your TV provider. However when you activate the TV's onboard apps, the options to select these go away. That's fine as you'd expect the apps to broadcast in a standard widescreen format. Unfortunately when trying the amazon, netflix, ABC, CBS apps there is a huge flaw. The TV seems to crop out the right hand side of the picture (about 2 - 3 inches) and then stretches 2/3 of the screen to make up for this crop. This means you end up with a horribly distorted picture. For instance with CBS live streaming, the stream starts off in a low resolution stream and the picture is just fine, however as soon as the full Hd picture kicks in, there is a slight jump as the picture is cropped (you cana see how the logo is cut off on the right hand side) and the rest of the screen is distorted to fit the picture into the screen. If you go into the screen settings there is no way to adjust the picture or turn this off as most picture adjustment is locked out (you can only adjust the brightness, contrast, tint, motion smoothing etc...)
This only happens when using the TV's built in apps. When you connect something like a Fire TV stick and access the same apps, the issue isn't there, the whole picture is displayed as normal without the cropping and stretching.
I checked to see if there was a software update to address the issue but the system is up to date. So basically you're paying for an android TV that you can't actually use the android apps on without a horrible distorted picture.
When using the Amazon Fire TV stick though the picture is just fine. There is a small bit of blurring during high motion scenes but that's to be expected from a 60HZ native panal. The motion smoothing (which some people may not like) can sometimes help make this blurring sharpen up, but can also lead to some motion artifacts.
All in all, if you want a cheap large screen TV and intend to use an external streaming device, this TV is pretty good. However if you're thinking of purchasing this TV and using the built in apps, I would not consider buying this model until the distortion issue has been resolved.
**UPDATE** Hisense made the suggestion of resetting the system to get rid of the visual distortion. This 100% worked. I can now use the built in apps and they display just perfectly. I'm not sure why this was an issue considering it was a brand new TV and it was a bit time consuming having to reset up the app accounts and picture preferences but I'm very happy that it's working perfectly now. Thank you hisense and as a result, I have upgraded my rating to 5 stars. A bit of a setup hiccup but it's now fixed and it's a great TV for the price.

    Excelente televisor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buen producto, asco de navegador web
