Disappointing.

Disappointing.
After spending a couple of weeks with this model, I will be returning it; it's the second A9 I have received from Amazon in the past couple of months. The first one had been used and was full of someone else's dust and hair. They both have the same issues. We have previously used the iLife V3S and it has been great! Was hoping this would be a good replacement, but that is not the case. Be prepared to babysit this vacuum. I have spent an embarrassing amount of time watching this guy traverse our floors and have not been impressed. Maybe if it were a bit cheaper (this was $230!!) it might be worth it as a budget vacuum. I have since replaced it with a Roomba of a similar price and it is doing great.Pros:Nice and quiet (for the most part)Cons:-will alternate between bumping loudly into things, and hesitating a few inches away from others, so it misses a inch-or-so border around most walls and furniture, yet simultaneously leaves marks when it does decide to crudely approach.-doesn't clean edges well-- hesitates and avoids. IMHO the edges are the most important part!-it has a hard time finding its charging port and will often die in the middle of a room for no good reason-short battery life. Most times after about 30 minutes.-small dust compartment fills up quickly and the many nooks and crannies are difficult to clean properly (I have started using canned air to clean and it works great)-roller brush does not fit well and pops out periodically. it also gets easily clogged with hair and needs to be meticulously cleaned after each use.-dog hair accumulates on the underside of the rotating brush, preventing it from suctioning anything further. Then it just pushes detritus around and leaves big clumps here and there-spinning brushes will kick many things out of the way (even if the dust compartment is empty). I tried to use it to clean up after a wreath-making session, and it left pine needles everywhere, even after two passes over the 100sqft area. It also kicks out cat litter (again, even if the compartment is empty)-I still need to sweep and vacuum after using this machine. It does not pick up everything (and I'm talking dust and dirt, not large stuff)with some improvements, this could be a decent budget robovac. Just need to decide which components to keep (and improve on) and which are dispensable.and for anyone wondering-- I think it says "Starting AutoClean". ;)

This is probably one of the lowest cost "smart" (uses camera for navigation) vacuums on the market. I my experience on hard floors the navigation is good and it has not gotten stuck yet. The cleaning and vacuum power is really good. The only issue I've noticed with the vacuum is that it is reluctant to vacuum rugs. It doesn't get stuck but it generally won't climb onto them. It is not designed for this carpet at all and that is something they should probably point out better in the description. The setup is a little finicky mostly because the instructions could be more detailed. I didn't have any issues with it but I could see where someone could get confused based on the directions provided.

I do appreciate the "smart" navigation function as the vacuum is far more efficient at cleaning the space. The vacuuming performance is great on hard floors and have yet to get hair stuck in the roll. The amount of duct that I have poured out of the collection bin is impressive as I didn't know a hard floor could have that much dust! The navigation thoroughly cleans the whole area and will surprise you when it goes back to areas you thought it may have missed.

The app is okay and nothing special. It does allow scheduling and it does show the cleaning map of where the vacuum went. I'm hoping they are able to improve the functionality of the app and robot firmware in the future to allow no-zones to be drawn in the map but I don't think that is going to happen since this vacuum is sent with a virtual wall device. One significant bright side is that the full functionality of the vacuum can be used without the app through the remote provided.

Overall, I would recommend this vacuum only if you have hard floors or low pile carpet. The suction and vacuuming performance is great. The navigation is good and the vacuum will thoroughly clean the whole space. I didn't have any issues with the vacuum returning to the base. The base does require a fair amount of open space around it. I think requires about three feet on each side and almost six feet in front of it if I remember. Also worth noting, everything appears and feels to be of high quality. Nothing feels particularly cheap other than base is a little light but that hasn't been as issue.

This device was a magical treasure that my husband purchased for me.

We have 3 medium sized dogs and the hair was maddening. Sweeping every day was acceptable, but why??? I don't want to! The little rotating brushes on the device snatch that hair right into the suction zone with ease.

The aforementioned dogs were not fans of the upright vacuum and it's death roar. With the exception to saving a tail for getting sucked up, they barely move when it's on.

Setting up the timer was easy. I am a light sleeper and we set it up to clean at night. It only woke me up the first day bumping into the door learning the layout. Since that day, I don't even know it's out there working the night away.

The suction is great! We use it on hardwood, carpet, and rugs. It will sometimes flip a rug during cleaning but it doesn't get "caught" or become stuck when that happens. It just keeps on going.

I love the little thing, but nothing is perfect. The only "issues" I've had so far are what follows.

There are 2 tabs that hold the interchangeable roller brush in it's spot. These tabs will sometimes snag on the carpet or rug and open the hatch. I wake up to a vacuum but no roller and the hunt begins. It still roams around sucking things up, but that added brush clean is missing. I just put 2 pieces of electrical tape over the tabs before going to bed and that works just fine for that problem.

The other thing is, it isn't sure what the heck is going on over big floor vents. It has "cliff" sensors to prevent it from suiciding off the stairs or what-have-you but with floor vents, it's like sometimes there's a "cliff", but sometimes there isn't. It will say that the sensors need cleaned. I put a chair over the big floor vent so it doesn't even get it's sensor close enough to get a reading. Smaller vents, like those in a bedroom, have not been a problem for the device.

All in all, it's a really great device at a really affordable price. My next step is to check out the app but what we're doing now, is just great!
