• It has a quick charge feature - the battery charged fast (took about an hour to charge from about 10% to 100% using the wall plug that shipped with the phone). It does use a USB-C connector, so I had to buy some adapters so I do not have to lug around the USB-C cable around with me (I have enough adapters for home use, have in my vehicle and work use).
• The battery life is decent - with moderate use (several phone calls, minimal texting, reviewing email, Web browsing, Facebook/LinkedIn use, an hour or two of gaming during my typical day), a full charge drops to between 30% - 40% by the end of the day.
• The speaker/sound system is superior to all my prior phones - I actually had to turn down the media volume (full volume is a little TOO Loud for my comfort).
• The phone size is slightly smaller than my previous BLU XL2 size, however, the screen has superior resolution and it's touch sensitivity is very good and precise (I have large hands, men's XL glove size which made it easy for me to “fatfinger” the virtual keyboards on most of my previous (admittedly bargain priced) phones.)
• It is really really really nice that it has 64 GB of ram. In the past, it was almost mandatory that I had to add a SD card to have adequate space on my previous phones for all the apps I wanted or needed for work. i will eventually get a SD card for this phone, but I do not feel any pressure due to disk space, so I am in no hurry.
• This is the first phone I owned that has a finger sensor - so far it has worked flawlessly.
Hopefully, this phone will last without issues for the next 2+f years. Some of the negative reports that say the phone is "slippery" this is somewhat true, but I bought a well rated case (I chose a Moto G6 Rugged Case, Poetic Revolution which has worked well) so this is not an issue for me.
Update (September 2019) - Only one issue to report: An OS upgrade to Build Number PPS9 118 11-1 appears to have corrupted my SD Card and the phone would crash shortly after rebooting. Removing the SD Card fixed this issue (and I still have ~31 GB if 64 GB device storage available),
Battery life: Still the same as in my original review.
Fit and Finish: No mechanical issues.
About the time I had the stability/rebooting issues, I decide to try out the Microsoft Launcher in place of the Moto App Launcher. Overall I am quite please with the more customizable UI/UX the Microsoft Launcher offers.
Update (May 2020) - Still using this phone (a testament to it's durability). The battery life is shorter now and a full charge may last a day if I lightly use the phone. I also notice that if the phone has less than 30% charge, the camera becomes less stable and now has a noticeable delay between clicking the button and actually taking a snapshot (sometimes not taking a picture at all). The turbo charge is still as fast as I wrote in my original.
review but I noticed that the USB connector is more finicky and when I think the phone is connected for charging, it doesn't charge. Occasionally the phone reboots unexpectedly when I forget to lock the phone while running one of my work apps or Facebook (which was not an issue at all when I bought the phone). The last annoyance is that reboot time takes 3-4 minutes (may be all the App and OS updates. I have ran malware checks, but these have not detected anything).
***** After nearly a year with this phone, I still love it. I'm so glad to have gotten away from the other more expensive phones with the same functionality. I also like that the battery lasts longer and charges faster than my prior exorbitantly expensive phones. This phone continues to serve me well. Thanks.
***** After nearly three years with this phone, I still continue to love it. The performance of my prior Samsung phones invariably degraded within two years to being nearly unusable. My Samsung phone batteries would heat up to extraordinary temperatures on every one I had. This Moto continues to hold a charge, doesn't heat up, and charges quickly with the original battery. It continues to perform well with all the features I want and makes me happy every time I use it knowing I didn't pay the exorbitant prices other phones cost. I'm sure I'll want to get a new phone some day and when that day comes, I plan to purchase another Motorola. Great phone.
