A Single sound bar that give you REAL SURROUND SOUND!!!

A Single sound bar that give you REAL SURROUND SOUND!!!
This Sony HT-G700 Sound Bar is amazing!! A single front located sound bar, (along with the Sub Woofer) will give you a true surround sound experience without any rear speakers! No more trying to run wires under your sofa, or in the walls to attach rear speakers. This does is with just the bar and the sub woofer, which can be located anywhere. The sound is great, and gives you many options for connections. So even if you don't have a state of the minute TV, you will still be able to connect this and get great results. The only issue I am having is that when we fast forward on our TIVO, it somehow shuts off the HDMI, on the Sound Bar and changes it to TV. So in order to get it back on, we need to cycle through the various input settings on the remote, to get it back to HDMI. I am sure that I will discover the solution for this after reading the manual. (Hey, I am a guy - I don't read manuals until I have to. LOL) I am really happy that I was able to get this through #theinsiders, and am providing my feedback and opinions as part of a promoted campaign.. I LOVE THIS SOUND BAR!!!By the way, the picture of the sound bar on my entertainment center above, shows a scene from Jeopardy.
    Thank you for your feedback

This speaker does everything you should need it to do especially if you are a gamer if you have the new Xbox series X Consol and you have a TV capable of 4K HDR VRR DTHD And or 120 FPS in -1440 P then the sound bar is for you it took me about three days and I could not find anything online Sony was very helpful and did what they could to help me but also was not very aware being at the fact that I do not have a TV that is from Sony I have a TCL6 series also I would highly recommend the TV as it comes with a thx certified game modeSo after hooking the soundbar up I find that the audio quality is magnificent I also find that it does everything for your buck if you looking around at sound bars that can support 4K HDR pass through it will be very hard for you to find one in this price range that does Dolby Atmos and that does DTSX master audio at first I was hooking the speaker up with a HDMI that I bought that was 2.1 high speed ethernet to my EARC mind you the subwoofer is also EARC And I was able to get good audio through that without my TV speakers but something was wrong I noticed that I lost VRR and I lost auto latency mode on my gaming console after many frustrating at times to fix this it’s only just occurred to me if you want to set your Xbox to have the best performance and your speaker to have the best performance you must said the Xbox to HDMI one behind the TV and then separately set up the sound bar to EARC set The sound bar to TV that sound bar will come with three modes TV HDMI and Bluetooth you’re not using HDMI because you did not plug in the HDMI to the back of the speaker so therefore said it to TV and you will notice that via the Dolby Atmos app on the Xbox you’re not capable of both Dolby Atmos and DTSX master audio by the way I just want to go ahead and add this in I noticed a significantly loss of video quality when I had the speaker hooked up to the Xbox why is this you may ask while the EARC input or output needs to use all of its been with in order to create the Dolby Atmos sound but when you have the TV connected to the Xbox completely and a different HDMI input it is able to use all of the band with the Xbox requires and also using all of the band with the audio requires therefore dedicating each HDMI to two different bandwidth so that you can stream and hear everything the way it is supposed to beI’m very grateful I bought this speaker after looking at many reviews online it is amazing how ungrateful people are in these times that we’re living in you have to be grateful nothing is perfect in life but I find this speaker is pretty good if you’re worried about the speaker for any means necessary you should put a three-year warranty through Amazon that way your covered either way is the speakers covered by Sony for one year I hope you guys enjoy and hope I was able to help someone be good to yourselves and be good to your neighbors and have a great day

I've always used Sony hardware; over the decades I've gone through several TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Blu-Ray players, and a surround system.

The surround system recently died and completely stopped broadcasting audio. I'm at a stage where I want less stuff than more, so instead of replacing the surround system, I decided to get a sound bar and sub woofer.

The HT-G700 showed up a day earlier than anticipated, so I connected it up and installed it. The actual connections for my system are very straightforward: Connect the HDMI eARC/ARC port on my Bravia TV to the HDMI Out TV eARC/ARC port on the sound bar, and then connect my Blu-Ray player to the sound bar's HDMI In port.

So far, so good. But that was where things flaked out. The TV attempted to switch audio to external speakers, with no sound of any kind coming out. I started going through the various menus on the TV trying to find a "Control for HDMI" setting, which needed to be turned on. I hit upon a system information menu that said that setting was indeed on, but also listed a bunch of compatible devices, which did not include the HT-G700. I have to assume this is because the TV is I think from 2017.

In any event, nothing was working, so I finally powered everything down, unplugged everything from the power strip, waited a few minutes, and then connected everything up again. Then, things worked immediately as they should.

Now, as far as the sound quality: Reasonably good for the price. This isn't a high-end Bose system, and it would be foolish to expect it to sound like a high-end Bose system. In playing some different TV shows, and testing a couple of DVDs, the sound was as it should be. The various sound settings on the sound bar do have noticeable differences, though I didn't experiment with them all that much. Knowing myself, the simplest thing is to leave it on Auto Sound. The sub woofer adds a nice foundation to the sound, although it seems that its volume only goes up to 12.

One strange thing we noticed was then when watching a broadcast of Wimbledon tennis, we heard a sound reminiscent of those crazy "Vuvuzela" horns that people sometimes blow at soccer matches. Since this wasn't replicated in any other channels or on the DVDs I tested, I expect it was something with ESPN's audio feed itself.

Another strange thing was that in opening the package, I found a couple of small brown spots on top of the sound bar. Looked like a little kid had chocolate all over his hands and then touched the bar. It cleaned up with no problem using a damp paper towel.

So all in all, even though the setup was a bit more flaky than it should have been using all Sony equipment, and maybe there is an issue with Sony's quality control regarding the above-mentioned brown spots, the sound and quality were what I expected, and I'm quite satisfied with it.

This Sony Soundbar with subwoofer sounds great! EASY to set up and use. My tv does not have the correct bluetooth for this soundbar but setting up with the supplied HDMI cable was a breeze. The controls have a small learning curve but easy enough to get up and running quickly. The package contains the soundbar, subwoofer, two power supply cables, the remote with batteries, an HDMI cable and all the instructions and warranty cards. The remote is easy to operate and the controls on the soundbar and subwoofer are also a snap to use. You can set the center speaker on a higher volume so the dialog is much easier to hear for us hard of hearing folks (thanks Sony). Connecting the subwoofer to the soundbar via bluetooth was super easy. The Immersive Av function really fills the room with great sound and there are several settings via the remote for cinema, standard etc.. The only nit I have to pick is I think the subwoofer could be a bit more robust but I just received the unit and have not learned all of the adjustments yet so I will try to update when I have mastered it to see if I can increase it's output. I would highly recommend this unit.

Excellent product. I tried a couple no-name cheaper brands but the quality and connectivity was terrible. Decided to pay more and get a Sony system and great decision. With ARC HDMI it connects instantly and integrates with Sony remote. I love being able to select different sound modes for various applications and control subwoofer on the fly depending on the show/movie/sporting event. Only downside which is minor is I wish the subwoofer was a little stronger I have it maxed and it’s great but I do think having a little more headroom if wanted more would be available. I’d still buy this despite that minor downside because the next ones up with more power are hundreds more and are a full 7.1 system where I only want/need a 3.1 system.

Im writing this review two weeks after using the soundbar. First of all big thanks to Amazon for the prompt delivery and in perfect condition. I received call for installation from Sony the very next day after delivery.

The sound quality is what I expected, and the subwoofer delivering its floor shattering punch is superb. Now re-watching the movies and songs with soundbar is as good as watching in theatre.

The only downside is missing upward firing speaker s to simulate overhead sounds.

In short, I’m happy with the purchase.

I'm not an audiophile but the quality leap from 2.1ch to this 3.1ch with a subwoofer is absolutely gorgeous. It does resonate so if you live in an apartment, I recommend checking the sound isolation to make sure you don't disturb your neighbors.

The WAC connection to my Sony 4K TV is wonderful and works very well for PS5, Netflix viewing, Spotify, and other apps as well. The sound quality via Bluetooth is also great.

If there's a good sale, I recommend grabbing this if possible. Of course, you could also go for higher quality at 5,1ch if you want.

Arrived on time and was exactly as described. As I pair mine with my x900h sony tv the setup was seem less. I didn't have to setup bluetooth as it automatically detected the sound bar and connected by itself. All I did was hook up the hdmi cords and power cords and we were ready to go. We like the sound for our smaller space.
