I have changed to 5 stars after playing more with gcam. The first picture is the stock camera app. The second using gcam. Very happy with the pictures.I am upgrading from the original Z Play. This phone is faster and I am enjoying the larger screen. I'm assuming this is a significant camera upgrade but I installed gcam and although the pictures are outstanding, I'm not sure the improvement is the hardware or software. I wish I had installed gcam on the original Z Play so I could have compared picture quality. That being said, I am extremely happy with the pictures I am getting. I don't think a Pixel phone could deliver better. Night Sight is working and is magic compared to what I was seeing with the Z Play.Speed is good, no stutters or delays.Screen looks great.Very happy to see the headphone jack, I was thinking I would either need to by a budget phone or spend a lot more money on another phone to get the headphone jack. I use headphones everyday and don't want something else to recharge.Speaking of recharging. Battery life is great, able to use it all day and never need to worry about recharging before bedtime. Two days of use isn't unreasonable.Really appreciate the SD card slot, would have bought the Pixel 3a but no memory expansion. I will likely buy a 512 gig card soon, about to fill a 256 card now. Having all my music and audiobooks in the phone is great working in a building that blocks cell signals. The size of the phone is exactly the same but the phone looks bigger with the edge to edge screen turned on. I'm a little surprised every time I turn it on. Fits in the hand exactly the same but easier to operate with the rocker rather than separate volume buttons. Still could be a stretch for people with small hands. Finally, the most controversial aspect of the phone. The in-screen fingerprint scanner. The capacitive scanner in the Z Play is faster and more accurate than the in screen scanner on the Z4. But the Z4 scanner does work and without error most of the time. The funny thing is that it functions faster and more reliably with one finger versus another.Over all, this looks, feels and works like a good phone. Installing gcam makes it a great camera phone. I just wish I would have had time to wait for it to go on sale.

The Moto Z4 is a great phone, don't let the ho-hum industry reviews tell you otherwise. I had a 2015 X, then a Z Force, then a Z3 and now this phone and this is by far my favorite. I upgraded primarily because the Z3 cameras weren't good enough for the stuff I like to do (though O liked the black and white one) and I am very happy with the camera on this one so far.

The Z3 was very nice and saw me through a year+ of heavy use, the Z4 definitely feels like an upgrade.

    Pros

Screen is gorgeous, the extra real estate is just right over the Z3

The cameras rock. I put a version of gcam on the phone but honestly I think the regular cam is pretty great. Front cam is very high res too, although for selfies I could use a few less megapixels 😂

I like the 128 GB plus SD slot

Battery life is better than Z3 (the reason for the downgraded processor)

Games are fine, really. I play Call of Duty Mobile on the Z3 and now Z4 and it is smooth.

I like being able to continue to use Mods since I have several of them, primarily battery and speaker but also folio case and sometimes the game pad. I have the camera and projector but never use them.

I also have a Moto 360 watch I enjoy using with the phone.

    Cons

Everybody has mentioned how Mods aren't flush because the Z4 is rounded. This is fine for battery and speaker, doesn't bother me, but fashion backs, and I have 4 of them, look dumb and are kind of pointless on the Z4. The folio case still fits well.

The downgraded processor is a bummer. The Z3 felt a bit faster with stuff like browsing. I also wish there was more than 4GB of memory. I haven't really noticed the Z4 lag, except when initially setting it up when it was doing five things at once.

The screen doesn't feel as bright outdoors. I haven't looked at the NITs but I could see the Z3 a little better it seems on my daily walks.
