As for the sound quality, even using high end Grado phones this phone delivers great sound, balanced, powerful and accurate. It has a software equalizer and DTX:3 3D sound for the speakers. This phone is best from the headphone jack, plugged in the "Hi-Fi Quad DAC" activates. It has digital sound presets (mine is set to "Normal"), Digital Filters (mine is set to "Slow" as it seems most accurate), and left and right channel balance dials, so you can tune in the best sound for your headphones. I have a number of high end headphones amps and this phone gets close to the sound quality of an external portable amp, just missing the "speaker effect" the best amps can achieve. Plus it has plenty of power to drive less sensitive larger headphones. Paired with the Poweramp app this phone is hard to beat for sound quality for music through the headphone jack.

However after it had arrived, I tried a few times to set it up, resetting Network settings etc. LG South Africa and Vodacom could also not assist so I had to return it. What makes it worse is that I had to pay for the shipping costs as well.
Like I said, the phone is flipping amazing for the price so go out and get it but make sure it works in your region/country first!
Received phone and off to the AT&T store since I have AT&T service and needed a nano sim card and my existing Samsung uses a micro sim. They set the phone up and was able to make calls, browse the internet uses wifi and cellular services. Noticed when I arrived home that I was able to receive simple texts but text messages that had pictures or URL links attached could not be opened and viewed. Group texts also did not work. I called AT&T tech support. They provided the correct APN settings and I had to create a third APN entry. Went through network reset and they said the third APN entry setting was active even though the two other APN entries had the Sprint settings. Phone still would not process texts with URLs and pictures or group texts. When sending group texts the word sending... would appear under the text until I rebooted the phone. AT&T tech support referred me to LG support.
LG 2nd level tech support went through with me on clearing memory and cache in the messaging application that would allow one group text that was stuck in the sending mode to go through. Attempted to send a second group text right after the one went out and sending.... appeared under the second group text. LG exhausted their experience and indicated this was a software issue between APN settings in the phone and backend messaging system of the AT&T carrier. That is what I was thinking for everything else besides attachments and group texts did not work but regular simples texts and everything with the phone worked correctly. Had to be a software configuration setting.
I called AT&T tech support went through their first level tech support script. I requested to be escalated to 2nd level engineering. I was given a ticket number and was told they would get back within 48 to 72 hours. Never received a call or text from them. I called back again 4 days later was told the same thing by AT&T first level tech support.
I went back to Amazon and read the reviews and seen a few other complain about the same problem when using GSM services from either T-Mobile or AT&T. I noticed customers who purchased from eKings had the same problems and eKings resolved them. So I reached out to Amazon and made them aware of the problem I was experiencing. They indicated to try to reach out to eKings even though I did not buy the phone from eKings. Well after trading e-mails, I was connected to tech support guy Alex from eKings. I explained to Alex what did with AT&T and LG and sent him the AT&T APN settings that AT&T provided. We agreed on a time and I provided him with my land line phone # so we could work on the mobile phone. Instead of doing the network reset via the menus in the phone, Alex provide the network reset code by using the phone pad. The phone went through its initialization and loaded the AT&T APN settings from the AT&T sim card into the phone. Now there were only two APN entries and they both had AT&T parameters in them. The Sprint APN entries were no longer in the phone. Alex sent me a text with a picture which thumbnail appeared with the texts and expected and I in turn sent him a text with a jpeg picture he received correctly. So the LG engineer was correct that the APN setting in the phone and the messaging backend system at AT&T was the problem. Kudos to Alex and eKings in going over and beyond and helping me resolved the problem even though I did not purchase the phone from them. Thank you eKings and Alex!

I bought the device from the seller " Wireless Experts Inc.". The device came on time as promised, was brand new in a sealed original box with all accessories. It is indeed a device made for sprint network but came unlocked which is absolutely fine. I had no problems using my FIDO sim card with the device for calls and data.
However the settings need to be tweaked to use MMS, for which you would need a service code. The product page in Amazon has details about how to make changes to the settings. The service code has to come from the seller. Thankfully, I had no problems there. Wireless Experts Inc. was extremely helpful in sourcing me the required service code. With it and the instructions in the product page, I was able to edit the MMS settings to suit FIDO. Wifi- Calling won't work (I don't care). VOLTE, I am not so sure. But, I don't care about it either.
The phone is a flagship device, fresh out of factory box with all bells and whistles, for a price that is non-flagship. If you search carefully and take substantial risk, you can buy this device for even cheaper elsewhere. But, I am perfectly happy with what I got, the price I paid and the trouble-free transaction. Highly recommend this device and the seller.
Like all LG devices, this one is sturdily built and looks classy. It has a great display of 6.4' inches and comes with Android 10. On powering up, I also received a minor update. So, I am guessing that I will have no trouble getting future updates, if any. But, I highly doubt that this device will have any more updates. I am fine with it. Android 10 is good enough for me. If you need the latest and greatest software, you should be looking at iPhone or Pixel phone.
The battery holds up really well. The user experience is pleasant and snappy. Camera is very good, especially if you no how to use it properly. It is a decent point and shoot camera but a stellar manual mode camera. Sound out of the headphone jack is phenomenal like all LG phones that has the dedicated DAC. One of the main reasons I buy LG devices is for their high sound output quality through the headphone jack. Understandably, you need to pair it with a good pair of earphones/headphones.
Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed if you take the initial effort to set up the device properly. If you don't care much about MMS, then you are good to go as it is. You wouldn't need the service code.
And this review is for the device sourced from the seller "Wireless Experts Inc.".
Description states this listing is for a Korean version LG V50 LM-V500N. It is not. The phone delivered was an American model Sprint mobile LM-V450PM.
The phone appears to be heavily customised for Sprint which creates numerous issues as follows:
- It requires activation on the Sprint network in the US. Without this activation it spends 5 minutes trying to activate every time it is restarted and then fails.
- It is locked to the Sprint network by default. You may be able to get calls to work out of the box, but MMS won't work.
- Sprint has merged with another carrier and appears to have changed bands and forced people to dump these phones. As a result they won't be getting OS updates and patches with the same frequency as the other variants of the V50, if any at all. The last software release already appears to be 6 months behind the Korean version and is over 12 months old.
- VoLTE and Wifi calling is locked out in the Android image.
- The phone isn't detected by the LG utility applications such as LG Bridge.
Removing the activation process at boot, unlocking the phone and getting calls and MMS working on Vodafone in Australia seems to be possible by hooking it up to a laptop, installing Android developer tools and issuing command line instructions, but has taken a fair number of hours stuffing around and I'm not sure whether there are other nasties that I haven't found yet lurking under the surface.
The seller appears to be engaging in deceptive conduct and I'm not happy with my purchase. I'm weighing up whether to return the phone vs the money I've spent on accessories for it. I should have read the other reviews below before purchasing but took the details in the listing at the seller's word.
