I purchased this case for my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Plus. I was hesitant to buy based on some of the reviews. I'm glad that I purchased this case. It appears that I received the new and improved version. There is a sticker on the packaging that says "NEW" in fairly large letters. The case looks just like the one shown in the pictures. I really like the texture and feel of this case. Its soft and feels good when holding it. It installs easily and fits the tablet perfect. The front edge is rounded which provides more protection. There isn't any rubber smell. Its black and doesn't look washed out gray like some of the review pictures that I've seen. The power and volume buttons are covered and work great. It seems to make the tablet sound better. When attaching the S pen you should slide it into one set of holders and then push it to snap it into the other set of holders. I have a tempered glass screen protector installed. I am very happy with this purchase. On a side note, you can remap your tablet power button so that it actually works as a power button for shutting down the tablet, from the factory the button is mapped to start up Bixby.

this thing is super sturdy and fits perfect. gives a to of protection and super easy to hold onto because of the grip. it holds the pen perfectly and tight. im going to give this thing a 5 despite its 1 little semi flaw...

the grip is so raised that it makes it a little hard to touch the screen on the edges however its not impossible so for that i will still give it a 5 and i will take the thickness for the protection any day!

It's almost perfect. At least in what I expected. The buttons are well alighed and looks good.
This is my fourth Poetic tablet cover I've bought. They changed the material, this one feel more like plastic rubber blend. All previous ones I've bought were more rubbery and had better traction. I can not get the same grip as the older ones, so not as much confidence when I pick it up. I would pay more for the old type.
Side note. All my other Poetic covers look as good as they day I bought them. The first one is on a Google Nexus 7 tablet , no I don't use it any more.

Getting the case on was a tight fit, but it does fit, and holds the tablet securely.

The case absolutely makes this tablet far easier to hold comfortably, by adding some bulk to the edges, and making the pattern on the back quite pronounced.

The Pen holder is great as well; secure hold, not complicated to remove the pen or insert, and has these little nubs that sit higher than the pen to keep it off whatever surface the tablet is sitting on.

For the cost I would say this is a great value for the level of protection you get.

I've been using these cases now for years! I keep coming back to them because they're so durable, reasonably priced and rugged. While they don't protect the screen, the edges protrude enough so that you can lay the tablet face down on the screen side and it won't get scratched. Not suggesting you do that.

This case fits my Samsung Galaxy S9 Ultra well, provides what appears to be good protection from drops, and redirects the sound from the speakers to the front. There are just 2 attributes of this that made me return it. Even though it is thick and seems to provide good protection, the surface is slippery so doesn't provide a good grip when holding it. The deal breaker for me is that the size of the edge around the bezel makes it next to impossible to pull down from the top to open the menus without pulling the edge up to expose the edge of the tablet. When I try without doing that it just opens the app screen. If not for that I would be using it.

Rugged and comfortable case that enhances speaker audio clarity

The Poetic Turtleskin cases are my favorite rugged cases for tablets.
They offer excellent protection, fit snugly, and provide a much more secure grip when holding the tablet.

However, the best feature is the way the case redirects sound from the side firing speakers so that it faces the front of the tablet instead, which projects the sound directly as you. It makes it noticeably more loud and clear, similar to the effect of cupping your hand behind your ear to amplify sound.

Sadly, the manufacturer (Poetic) has made the puzzling decision to discontinue the previously available dark navy blue color, and instead is now offering only black for most of their cases.

For this reason, I am lowering my rating as there's really no need for them to be this petty by restricting the colors choice which was previously available for years.

Very impressed with this case so far! Not sure what the people who are mentioning a smell or poor fit are talking about. Maybe they received defective products or aren't inserting the tablet properly? The case hugs the tablet super well... So much so that removing it can be a little bit challenging! But it feels very well protected. If you want a protective case, this is definitely the one to go for. I just hope it holds up to years of removal and tablet reinsertion, when I'm swapping cases!
