    Is This a Knock-off?
I had a Pixel3 XL for the last few years and really liked it. But I wanted the new phone features, especially the new camera and majic erase. By the time I decided which Pixel phone I wanted Google was 'sold out' of Sorta Seafoam. I didn't want black so I ordered this one on Amazon. First of all, buying an unlocked phone and having to order a SIM kit from Google Fi was a much bigger process and pain than just getting the phone from Google with the SIM pre-installed, but that's a first-world problem. But once the SIM was successfully installed I turned the phone on and everything came up in what I thought was Chinese! I had no way of figuring out how to change the language and no search was helpful online. Finally, I thought to take it to my neighbor whose wife is Chinese. She took one look and said this is Japanese language. But she was also able to figure out how to get it to English. So I took my phone and I've used it for the past 10 days. I will agree with reviews here that the phone feels heavy, perhaps even heavier than my previous Pixel XL. But the thing that is causing me the most frustration is the camera. The pictures I have taken are awful! First, I took pictures with a group of girlfriends. I was the only one that did and it turns out the pictures seemed stretched at the edges. The girls sitting at both ends ended up looking like their shoulders were line-backers' and their arms looked huge! Like the pictures Realtors now post of interiors- WAY stretched and distorted. As you can imagine. Not a very popular thing with a bunch of girls. Also the colors were not very vivid and the lighting was really dim and dull. Next, I took pictures in my living room two mornings ago. My husband and I were having coffee. He snapped a photo of our dog on my lap with his new Samsung Galaxy s22 Plus. When she moved over to his lap, I took a picture with this new Google pixel 6 from Amazon. I have posted these two in my review and you can see the difference. His Samsung took a picture that was vivid and bright. The Pixel took a picture that was so dull. I had to wonder if there was something covering the lens! I actually took my phone to the local Best Buy store and compared it with the Pixel 6 displays both the 6A and the 6. Both of those phones displays were bright and vivid and this one is dull as you can see from the sample picture. So this phone is going back and it has eaten up way too much of my time and energy. The display Google phones had the color and light I was expecting. So now I have ordered one of the remaining Google pixel 6 in the only color left which is black, this one from Target which I am assuming will be providing the real product (because to be this bad this phone must be a knock off! And coming from unknown origin in Asia makes you wonder...). If I don't have an extremely better experience with this one, I will return it and move on to a different phone.

I've had the phone a short time and still learning about all the features, but so far the phone has been a treat. It's fast, has long-lasting battery (at least 2 days, but I don't let the battery get too low before charging). Photos are much better than my previous Motorola 5G, though they were pretty good, too. It is a big phone, but hasn't been a problem so far. I haven't shot any videos yet, but will soon and might have to update the review.

I dropped my previous phone on pavement and totally destroif it.
So I thought I'd try the Google pixel and found it to be the best phone yet.
Great pictures and it truly a very smart phone. And it costs much less than other quality phones but it has shown to be better. Must try this phone, it's great.

    Update July 2022
Camera never worked. Downloaded another open camera app to be able to take pictures at all. "Updates" reset default settings. Everything is tracked and annoying. Items don't work if location is turned off. Amazon won't even take Pixel 6 as a trade in for a new phone. So I think that says it all for me.

Update May 2022 - unless you subscribe to the entire Pixel ecosystem - all of it - the phone doesn't really work. After five months I am going to return and try something else. The camera remains useless literally restarting each time I try to take a picture. I am guessing it's because my location is turned off and I don't want to upload or share it to a social media site. It's a design flaw / bloat ware. I do not recommend this phone. (Previous Nexus 6 user for many years.)

Jan - I really like the Pixel. I really want to give it four stars at least. I am a previous long term Nexus user, which I would still use if they had 5G capabilities. The Pixel is great (I traded in my iPhone 12 Pro Max for it). Big.Problem: every.single.time I try to use the camera (or video) my phone re-boots, and seems to re-boot to default settings (eg it has settings restored I have customized). It.is.really.frustrating. I've looked online, cleared the caches, changed the settings, etc. as Google says may help with "camera not working". If it continues I am going to exchange it for another Pixel 6.

I upgraded from my pixel 4a 5g to this phone and I do like it. Although it is bigger in size it is great as I am currently using the pixel 6 to type this review. It is really great in terms of screen refresh rate as I had went from a 60hz to 90hz and it feels amazing. There are many other reviews and I want to keep this short, it is a great phone.

I’ve been using the Google Pixel 6 for a week, and I think it’s the best Android phone that I personally have had the pleasure of using. I was once upon a time a die hard Android faithful but slowly over time became frustrated with the progression away from TRUE Android and gave Apple a chance, I have never looked back after eating crow.

However, after a week plus with the Pixel 6 I have felt the urge to fall off the wagon & give up the years of Apple life to wander back to Droid simply because of this phone. It is the perfect balance of build quality, speed, battery life, and camera quality for 45K. The Google Pixel 6 is made of aluminum and glass and weighs approx 160 gram, slightly more than i-phone & Galaxy. Pixel 6 has an IP68 water rating and uses Gorilla Glass Victus protecting the 6.7" OLED screen. You will find a punch-hole camera at the top of the screen and an in-display fingerprint sensor located middle of the way up which did work but often needs multiple attempts before unlocking but I think this is mostly due to my extremely dry hands.

The Pixel 6 camera won’t disappoint, in fact, I was willing to put head to head with my iphone 12. The 6 has a new feature called “Real Tone processing,” It records 4k video at 30/60 fps and has an awesome feature "Magic Eraser" that can erase unwanted content within a photo. If you want that tree gone, boom gone, dont want that car behind you, circle it then gone!

The Pixel has an all-new Tensor processor that was developed in-house by Google, the chip offers top-notch, zippy performance, and it’s part of the reason why battery life is so great on the Pixel 6.The battery life is extremely impressive, too. I was able to stretch the battery past the 2-day mark, which I can’t say is the case with most phones I’ve tested. Even on days when I was glued to my screen, I’d go to bed with 30% remaining then wake up & still have 25%. The Pixel 6 runs the new Android 12, which offers a completely new interface.

Besides that, the phone has plenty of new features. One gauges how long toll-free wait times are, and there’s another called “Direct My Call” that helps you navigate those automated menus that make calling customer support numbers nightmarish. The Pixel 6 is an outstanding smartphone for a reasonable price point. It packs a fantastic screen, cameras that deliver excellent shots almost every time, and more than enough battery life.

The device has very few faults and will stretch your money farther than ANY other phone, hands down. If you want a top-of-the-line phone but don’t want to drop a grand on one, the Pixel 6 is the smartphone to buy. Anyone that is looking for an Android phone should 110% give this a try before wasting time on any other phone.
