Coming from a Samsung A20S, this phone was much cleaner and better produced package. Excellent battery life. I can't speak to the camera beyond saying that it works just fine. Let's not obsess on megapixel count. Beyond a certain point, this is rather meaningless unless you're filming your next Netflix special.
The rapid charging (0 to full in under 2 hours) is great. Can get a little warm when busy and charging etc but no big deal. Excellent screen size - I didn't want a humungous slab.
I use it as a dual SIM phone and this works extremely well, especially with the later Android support for this. Installed main carrier's SIM as an eSIM, and then foreign physical SIM in the one physical slot available. (So ignore those questions and comments saying that it cannot be done).
In short, a great phone that works well (touch wood!).
Update: I've just received my "refund" for the dead phone. Did the money get credited back to my credit card account? No, it did not. Instead I got a stinkin' Amazon Gift Card which is only usable at Amazon. So 5 stars for phone, -5 for sleazy behaviour from Amazon.
I bought this to replace an aging obsolete LG phone that was nearly non-functional after just 2 years of use. It is fast, responsive, feels and looks sturdy and high quality.
For those who don't know, Pixels are geared to attract iPhone users to the android platform so the ergonomics are a bit different from other androids. I didn't know this going in but some things are more iPhone like than they would be with other androids. The only downside is the very unsightly massive camera bar that basically requires you to put a case on this phone because it sticks out on the back side of it.
I don't use the phone that intensively, but I do plenty of texting, emailing, and Bluetooth music playing. The battery life isn't amazing. I had 2 Motorola phones that could easily get 2 days out of 100% battery. The 6a sits at 20% after a day of average use. This ain't great in my opinion as I know someone who has a Samsung with a similar level of use that is left with 35-50% at the end of the day.
This isn't a budget phone, it's a solidly mid range phone that will perform adequately. The camera is good enough. The processor is crisp and responsive. The touch screen is top notch. My only complaint is the ugly camera bar and less than stellar battery. The camera bar REQUIRES you to put a case on this phone..it isn't optional. It sticks out a tiny bit and would easily be shattered with the right drop impact.
Over time it became more and more unreliable to the point where it made using the phone annoying (I use fingerprint scanning for not only unlocking phone but also for access to secure apps like banking etc). Whenever I go to unlock my phone, sometimes it works flawlessly and other times it was so bad I had to resort to entering my pin. Success rate was basically less than 50%. For that I would have given this a 1 star rating for fingerprint reader.
I researched and tried all the different "solutions" I came across from many different forums and even the Google website and community. None solved the problem. I was considering replacing this with the newer 7a when the price drops and decided to research the feedback on the fingerprint scanner on this as well. To my surprise, similar complaints. There had to be a solution to this as some ppl were not getting issues with their phones.
After more searching I discovered the below solution, tried it and now I am as happy as can be. I thought it very important to share to as many ppl as possible to persons aren't discouraged to obtain this excellent phone. The below is pulled from a user on Reddit:
" I have found a way to make it work reliably 9/10 times though:
* Add the same fingerprint twice: First time you register it, press firmly into the screen, then the 2nd time you register press lightly.
* If it says "can't read fingerprint" or something like that, keep trying without moving, it'll eventuall pick it up.
* Hold your phone how you would when you pick the phone up (as if you've just got it out of your pocket for example), don't do it on a flat surface
This gives the sensor more date to compare with, increasing the odds of it recognizing something. You can tell when it's gone into the 2nd set of fingerprint images because it takes 1/4 of a second longer than normal."
I'm sure this will help most of you once followed exactly as described. This is a great phone that feels just like a flagship 2X and 3X the price. Don't miss out. Btw the above should work for the 6,6 Pro, 7, 7 Pro and 7a as well.
Top reviews from other countries
Fast camera, quality OLED screen, Gorilla glass, 5G, water resistance rating and a decent livable size. Phones can be huge making it difficult to manage in your day to day. How and where do you put it? This size can be put in your pocket or be worn on the belt.
More about the "Always On". I appreciate the fact that when the phone is beside me, I can glance at it without touching it and it gives me information; Day, Date, Time etc. Not all screens/phones can do this.
It has only been a week and I am still getting used to (and surprised by) all the features. I can recommend this phone without hesitation.
