I hoped to receive a pizza oven as most people define a pizza oven (like an Ooni) that could get to 800 or 900 degrees and flash bake a pizza in 1-2 minutes. What I got was a contraption that could not get above 440 degrees and took at least 30 minutes to get there. It has a rather large footprint because the base hides the gas tank and it essentially places the oven at "standing height" which is not an unappreciated feature. It is portable inasmuch as you can carefully roll it from place to place but don't think about picking it up and moving it from a patio up stairs to a deck by yourself. Not ridiculously heavy but bulky.

Furthermore, technically, it is an oven, albeit small, because it is only big enough to take a large pizza. I think the problem with heating is that it is vented all over the place. Even with the vents that you can close shut, it didn't help much. My Weber can get to 600 degrees with the lid closed but this contraption, not so much. It IS an attractive unit with the double doors but it doesn't serve the purpose that one would traditionally assign to a "pizza oven." If you are looking for another outdoor heating product that can only get to 440 degrees with very limited capacity and looks nice, then this is that.

It is going to the curb with a "Free" sign because I can't in good conscience try to sell it as a "pizza oven" to some other poor sap. Going to Ooni or Solo (they have a new pizza oven coming out) like I should have the first time around.

This pizza oven is expensive so you expect it to perform. The thermostat shows about 450 degrees but it is said to increase to 650 when the stones get hot. Well, if true, why doesn’t the thermostat show a higher temp? Secondly, the stone on the bottom can get very hot, indeed the bottom of the pizza can get black, but the top is not ready. When you open to check or move the pizza to a higher location, the temp drops to around 250. In my opinion, for the price, the oven should be lined with stone and have an overhead source of heat. It’s an impressive design, but it simply needs work. I’ve written the company, but they have’s responded, so it may have to be returned. Too bad.
Update: I bought an infrared thermometer that would read the interior temps. Fired up the oven and it read 450, but the stone was 650. I think the problem is the thermostat and the fact that the interior should be lined with stones, including one more stone on the top shelf. Perhaps these changes will increase the heat and make the oven worth it.

Just an Oven - not "Pizza" Oven

I just got my oven (on natural gas) going and to test it, I wanted to see how hot it would get and how fast. It maxed out at about 490 degrees, and it took about 35 minutes to get there. I thought it was a pizza oven based on the design (curved top, vent, etc.) So it LOOKS like a pizza oven, but its just an oven. Pretty sure I had one of those in my kitchen already. Bummer.

The door finally burned my wife's arm.
The door is not adjustable and would try and shut itself close.
She would call for help to keep the door open when taking out ready food.
This time she thought she might manage alone.
When I rotated the oven 90 degrees, the next thing she baked was thick in one side and thin on the other,
I am thinking on modifying the door to add a doos stop of some kind.
Will provide some pictures when done.
