    • Metal attachments, expandable grips, or credit cards will interfere with charging. Cases which contain metal, such as Pitaka, Evutec, and Spigen QNMP, will trigger foreign object detection and interrupt charging.
    • Power drain may be higher than charging speed while using a GPS app.
    • This wireless car charger detects temperature. When the temperature is higher than 45℃, the LED light will flash red, and the wireless car charger will stop working. Check your LED indicator and turn on your car’s air conditioner to the environment temperature at acceptable levels.

Overall Really Great Car Charger by Anker

Overall Really Great Car Charger by Anker
UPDATE: The slight humming noise that I originally heard was just my air hitting it weird. This has been resolved and I’ve updated my score. Thank you Anker! This is my review of the Anker PowerWave Fast Wireless Car Charger.I received the product this morning. It took me about 2 minutes to set it up. It was very simple and it even included an additional air vent connector with support prongs. I decided that I would switch them off right from the get go. I have an iPhone 7 Plus. Now you may be wondering why I decided to try this out if the iPhone 7 Plus doesn’t have wireless charging... Well, that’s because I also have a Mophie Juice Pack case for my phone and that does support wireless charging. So needless to say, my phone is pretty big and weighs a bit more than the normal iPhone 7 Plus. But I wanted this as I’m sure there will be several reviews with this charger being used normally. I wanted to push this to the max.So I attempted to use the car charger with my Mophie case. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out well. It didn’t seem to align just right to get it to charge. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Turns out there’s a little dial on the back to loosen the grips at the bottom of the charger. That allows them to drop a down a bit so you can adjust the place where it touches the back. Once I did that, it worked perfectly.I noticed that my phone was too heavy for the standard air vent clip. So I decided to change out the clip for the more heavy duty one with support prongs. Unfortunately, my air vents are vertical instead of horizontal and that didn’t really help so I was out of luck there. I was previously using a Spigen CD slot phone holder that I really liked but wished had charging capabilities. Because the back of the air vent car charger was a ball mechnicism like the Spigen one I already had, I was able to take the Anker car charger and attach it to the CD player holder I already had and have it work best. Now onto the actual product itself. It comes in the standard white and blue Anker box/packaging. Very easy to open and get the items. The overall weight of the car charger was okay. I understand that it weighed more than some of my previous ones just because it had the wireless charging built in, so I wasn’t knocking it for that at all. It came with, like I mentioned before, an extra air vent clip with support prongs that would rest on the edge of the dashboard off the air vent to help hold the phone, it came with a micro usb power cord. I wasn’t impressed with the power cord, especially since I’ve previously purchased a few different Anker products that come with power cords along with power cords themselves. The one that came with the car charger seemed cheap and thin. I wasn’t expecting a Power Line plus or anything, but even their Zolo Liberty Plus earphones come with a better, braided power cord than this. To me, if I’m paying $45.99 for this product, I don’t want to have to buy an additional power cord. That being said, it is just a standard micro usb, so you could easily replace it with another, better micro usb cord. After I figured out how to use the charger, I noticed that my charging was fast. Keep in mind I had a Mophie case on my phone. I drove my work to home, about a 45 min drive. My phone went from 65% charged to 97%. I was pretty impressed with that. One down side, I noticed a little noise. It almost sounded like when the CD player in your car is trying to spin the disk or trying to eject the disk. At first, I thought it was because I was using the makeshift CD slot holder with my Anker car charger, but when I took it off of there and held it to my ear, I can hear that it was making some noises. I’m not sure if it’s maybe the way it’s supposed to work, maybe I had a defective unit, I’m not sure. It could also have been because I’m using a Mophie case but I don’t think it should matter. If it’s wireless charging capable, then it should work. It’s definitely not loud, and normally I have music playing so I probably won’t hear it. But because I did hear it, I just want to mention it here.Overall, the quality of the car charger is really good. It has a nice and easy release button on the side. There is a little light on the back of the charger that turns on when there is power going to it. I like the rubber grips on the sides and bottom of the charger that hold the phone in place. Give me peace of mind knowing my phone won’t go sliding off even if it does weigh more. I would really recommend this charger to anyone looking for a wireless charger for their car. It’s simple to use, easy to set up (if you have horizontal air vents), and an Anker product. How could you go wrong with that?

Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2019
This is my fourth phone holder/wireless charger for Samsung Galaxy S8 with Spigen case on it. The first three were cheaper ones from unknown brands, and all had to go back for a number of reasons. I was very reluctant to pay a high price for a phone holder, so I began at the bottom of the price ladder. I am going to talk a little about the three holders I had to return just to warn the reader about potential problems with cheap holders (which this model does not have). If you don't want to read about them and go back to Anker - skip the next three paragraphs.

Number one was a great deal price wise, but on the third day of use it went up in smoke. Literally. Smoke started coming out of the unit.

Second one was also an inexpensive model, it was one of these cool "gravity" activated holders, where you slip in the phone, and once it hits the bottom, the side arms close up and phone holds itself by its own weight. These are to be kept away from for a different reason, but I'll get back to that later. There were two problems with that one. It had no height adjustments, and when closed, the arms laid precisely on the side buttons. While the grip was soft enough to not press them most of the time, actually trying to press those (to adjust volume, for example) was a challenge. But this was the smaller of two problems. The bigger one was heat. Perhaps, because the phone was not positioned right against the charger due to lack of height adjustment, or maybe just due to a bad charger unit - the phone overheated within about half an hour of charging to the point that it stopped taking the charge, displaying a message about being overheated. It was considerably warm to the touch too. Then five minutes later it cooled down a bit and restarted charging just to overheat again in another five minutes. And so it went all trip long five minutes charging, five minutes cooling down...

Third one was one of the more expensive unknown brands, that had many good reviews on Amazon (though some looked a bit suspicious). Like the previous two it was gravity holder, but also featured the adjustable lower arm, so that a phone position could be regulated to avoid arms hitting the buttons, and to position the center of the phone over the charging element. No heat problem there, and I thought that was it. So 've had it for a while before returning. The problem showed itself suddenly during a nighttime drive in bad weather. The car hit a pothole on the highway, and shook up quite a bit, which made the gravity go negative for a split second. That was enough for the holder to release the arms, and phone to fly out and end up under my feet. Now, this is really no fault of particular manufacturer, but a problem with the gravity holders as a class. A car is a moving vehicle, and gravity may not be a constant factor. In fact, in case of a more serious situation, such as, God forbid, an accident or a rollover, when you will really need to access your phone quickly to call for help - it will almost certainly end up in a random place, and possibly even broken from the fall. So I highly recommend to stay away from these popular cool designs, and to opt for more traditional spring tension holders.

Finally, comes Anker, which I've been using for a while now, and never had the phone get overheated, and it is holding nice and securely, though not as "cool" as gravity holders. Not only it has height adjustment on the bottom arm, but it also features marks for the position to adjust for most popular phone models, to get your phone perfectly positioned against the wireless charger with no need to guess. I just want to spend a minute talking about the vent mount here. This is the only negative I can find in this, but among the many models with similar issues, this is still the best I've had so far. The two part ball mount makes the phone sit a bit of a distance away from the vent, which creates quite a lever for when you want to press the hardware button on the bottom of the screen (in S8 case it's hidden under the screen, but hard pressing the bottom of the screen wakes the phone), so I kind of have to also support it from the back, or it will tilt down. That said, this one has the best vent piece for this kind of design. It, in fact, has two to choose from. Both of them come with tension lock, rather than just tight fitting pieces of rubber, so they hold more securely, and also one comes with support to avoid tilting down when pressing the screen. It still tilts down on the ball bearing, as I mentioned above, but not on the vent itself. Another issue, it keeps the phone a bit away from the vent, which in my case (a mini van) puts it almost in a way of gear shift handle, when in "Park" position. Almost. They actually don't touch one another, but if you are not familiar with setup and grab the shift handle by putting your hand over it, you will hit the phone. I guess, that is mostly an issue with my specific car (and a preference to keep the phone in that specific spot), but it would have been not an issue, had the phone been closer to the vent.

All that said, I am yet to see a "perfect" holder, and this one is as close as it gets thus far.

This is my review of the Anker PowerWave Fast Wireless Car Charger.

I received the product this morning. I wanted to push this to the max.

So I attempted to use the car charger with my Mophie case. Once I did that, it worked perfectly.

I noticed that my phone was too heavy for the standard air vent clip.

But because I did hear it, I just want to mention it here.

Overall, the quality of the car charger is really good.

This wireless car charger is a pretty solid product. You can tell that it isn't a cheap charger and it does the job of charging my iPhone well and holds its very nicely without the fear of it falling out of the holder. It would be nice if this came with the car outlet instead of having to buy it separately. The main problem I had with this was when I went to install it the vent mounting system wasn't the greatest. I have a Ford superduty and even though the product shows that vent style in its supported vents it just didn't seem solid enough and didn't have a whole lot of maneuverability for positioning. Luckily I did have a different mount that I had previously used that fit perfectly and made for a much more secure and stable mounting position.

The USBC cord kept wiggling out of my phone when I'm driving. I decided to switch over to a magnetic charger based on my luck with the desktop version of this charger. Not only is this a fantastic phone charger, but it is better built and more stable than the old vent phone holder I was using before. I like the fact that it has a brace on the bottom so that the phone does not push the vent down due to its weight. It locks into place tightly and has not shifted even once. I actually had to reposition it. I was used to simply twisting my old phone stand so that the passenger could see my phone, but this one stays in place so well it won't slide or twist. This is a fabulous addition to the car and has no trouble holding my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with a heavy case in place. Pinch to hold and press one button to pop open. Couldn't be easier and I couldn't be happier. I am a big fan of Anker products and will continue to use them over almost any other brand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy wireless charging mount and great customer support

I’ve had the charger since December, works great with the attachment that has two legs to keep pretty still for navigation. The single grab style vent clip works but I found it had more play than I’d like, making my phone sway a bit from bumps.

The included cable works fine, it’s 3 feet roughly, I am using a right angle Micro USB cable to route it through my dash and have the bottom part as far down as it extends. Works fine charging my iPhone 12 Pro Max at its maximum speed.

Make sure you’re using a quick charge 3.0 enabled car adapter or you might end up with slower charging speeds. I’ve seen it pull 12V around 1 amp when testing.

My original unit had issues charging my phone, only drawing a few watts and being stuck at 5v. Contacted support earlier this month July and I was sent out a replacement unit in under a week which resolved my issue. Support was very easy and straight forward to work with.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good charger but very bad fixation, keeps falling off
Reviewed in the Netherlands on August 13, 2021
The charger works great and very fast, but the material to attach the holder to the vent is very bad. Neither of the two options stay attached to the vent, so your holder with phone in it keeps falling off; even the one with the extra support. The problem is the little beak is way too weak and doesn’t have an anchor at the back, which is simply poor design. I had to attach a clip from a dirty cheap Ali-charger to keep it in place. I expected better from Anker.

5.0 out of 5 stars schnelles Aufladen funktioniert, schöne Baumaterialien

    ----

As I've change the smartphone I wanted an auto car charger capable to charge wireless using QI technology. I didn't use the included air vents support but another suction cup support which was compatible.

    The product meet my expectations.

    Pros:
    - nice building materials
    - fast charging is working very good using a car QC 3.0 power charger
    - air vents supports seems to be nice but I've used and existing suction cup support

    Cons:
    - air ventilation supports are nice by I would like to see something based on suction cups included
    - it should be a blue LED somewhere on the left side to show the status - there is no such one or I didn't saw it

    Update 15/06/2019:

After several hours of driving the charger/smartphone become hot and the charger shutdown itself so...I had to move it in the direction of a ventilation hole and change all the positioning. I will say that this enters on the negative aspects now.

Brilliant product from Anker yet again, I had a car wireless charging mount before but my iPhone XS Max no longer could fit into it with the new Smart Battery case I bought, so I did a lot of looking around and found this.

It fits absolutely perfectly with the Smart Battery Case, the build quality is fantastic, really sturdy, clamps the phone really well never will be falling out. It charges much faster then my previous one also and it covers all types of vents with multiple mounting solutions. Brilliant product, worth every penny. Another quality product from Anker.
