This is my first 'professional' grade pruner purchase. I have had it for just a couple weeks and pruned only two rose bushes so far. This pruner works so much better than my other Walmart purchased pruners. It is super high quality and is a joy to use. Every cut is precise and complete. The ergonomic handle is a little strange at first, but works great to lessen stress on the wrist. Although this model is meant for small hands, and I do have small hands, it is still a little stretch to wrap the fingers around the handles since the bottom handle is about 3 inches in diameter at the fattest part. As a result, pruning wood at the designed limit of 0.8 inches diameter would stretch the fingers and require little more effort. The only other negative is the small and tight locking mechanism which is hard to operate with gloves and requires blades be shut quite tight. Other than that, this is an awesome pruner. One other note, I am a frequent Amazon customer, however, I did not purchase this from Amazon as I found it for a lower price (fifty six dollars with no tax or shipping charges) at The Pruners Warehouse.

This item, when new, cuts beautifully. It takes a few cuts to get used to it for muscle memory, or right away depending on the user and the hand, but as soon as you do it makes cutting easier and nice. Without long term use and abuse, I'm unable to comment so it is something worth keeping in mind. Overall, the product is designed with the intention of feeling custom made to the user which is nice. It curves with the palm. There is a hand chart. Recommend checking all around versus a single review, but with only a weeks worth of cutting, it does very good and is less tiring than a regular cutter. Cut's up to 1 inch easy on fresh cutting. I think these are not recommended for cutting dead or dry wood, but check in case I'm wrong.

Used to cut:
peach tree small branches 3/8" - 3/4 in"
plum tree branches 1/4" to 1/2"
dry branch to test, 1/2" cuts good

This item was worth the purchase in my opinion. I did not compare against another brand which may be comparable, and think that is what people want to know when searching for specifics. I chose this one because of the design and reviews.

I went back & forth on which type of Felcos to get & I am so happy I picked these! I am female with small hands (typically wear a medium size glove and have room in some of the fingertips). These fit perfectly! I love the rotating handle - it did take an afternoon to get used to, but by far the best pruning experience I've ever had - super comfy. Even though they are a bit pricey, I think they are totally worth it and I'm considering a second pair to have as a spare.

I got these pruners just the other day, so some of my concerns may be that I am just not used to the rotating handle. It feels unwieldy to me right now, but I h ave only used once or twice and I may not have the hang of it yet. The pruner itself is sharp and effective. Like all Felco products, replacements parts are available. Very high quality pruners and garden hand tools. Go Felco or go home! Just a little unsure if I will like the rotating handle on this one.

I'm not an impartial reviewer of Felco products because we've used them for years. The #12 joins the two #8s we have along with the Felco pull pruning saw of which I spoke so enthusiastically that the guy who delivers a local weekly newspaper got his own Felco pruning saw. Felcos are more expensive than other pruning implements. Their big advantage is that every part can be replaced so you maintain them better than something to be discarded when the spring goes. Once you become accustomed to them you can use them forever. Nothing made in China. The various implements come from Switzerland, Germany, and South Korea, among other locations. The holsters are made in the U.S.A. Not, as you can read, an impartial review. Just good quality. Period.
