Permanent Waves is the 7th studio album from Rush and the first to reach the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 when it was released in 1980. It features the singles "The Spirit Of Radio" and "Entre Nous." 40th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition features the 2015 remastered album and live tracks from their 1980 tour on 2 CDs and 3 LPs on 180-gram vinyl. Also included is a 40-page hardcover book with rare photos and reimagined artwork by original designer Hugh Syme.

Permanent Waves is one of Rush best. The music shows a nice transformation in the band that will also produce the classics Moving Pictures and Signals, all three albums at the peak of their creativity.Got Permanent Waves for the first time in High School and remains one of my favorites, this is why the interest in this super deluxe 40th anniversary edition. The CD's and LP's are great and all other memorabilia in the box. The only complain and the reason for three stars is the lack of a Bluray with the 5.1 mix of the album. Unforgivable it was not included as it is the standard in The Beatles, Pink Floyd and others super deluxe boxes.

This is one of my favourite Rush albums and albums in general. I especially loved the book and tour books because they both contain some great info covering this period, so if you're into liner notes as much as I am you are in for a treat! There are also some nice photos (although some don't belong to this period if I had to be picky)

The CD remaster sounds really good - Super punchy - IMO better than the vinyl. The vinyl sounds good but not as good as my original pressing from 1980 - at least on my system - these things are subjective.
The live is an interesting addition but sonically it does not sound so good but still a great little treasure.

If you are a fan of this album just don't miss this.

Just about everything you could ask for is in this super deluxe package. The only things missing that I would have greatly appreciated would have been Neil's solo from the Permanent Waves tour and any live video from their vaults from 1979-80.

If your a fan of Rush or even great music, this is a must have set. These 40th anniversary sets are well done. Not just great quality, but it also gives a great flashback with the extra material that takes you back to it's time of release and sort of relive the experience to the things happening back then. The price may seem a little high, however the contents are high quality and an in depth collection of material. If stored properly, it will never loose it's collect able value! The first 8 albums are my favourite era of Rush.
