One thing no other reviewers have mentioned, so maybe it's just me - but is "Don't Let Me Down" a reboot of The Beatles "Don't Bring Me Down?" Regardless, I like the gospel-ish piano, and Paul Rodgers soulful singing really brings it all together. Enough said about the music - my CD arrived two days (if memory serves me) from ordering, which is about typical for Amazon. So far no CD I've purchased has ever taken longer than expected to arrive. Bottom line - but this for yourself or as a gift for any music fan.
from the ashes of the superb & sadly lamented Free, I was very happy.
To subsequently discover that joining Free survivors Paul Rodgers (vocals )
& Simon Kirke ( drums ), would be ex Mott The Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs
& King Crimson bass player Boz Burrell, I became very intrigued. Just what
sort of an album would such a seemingly diverse mix of influences produce ?
The answer was soon forthcoming. Superb. This self titled debut is a fantastic
blast of early 70's rock with much of the same swaggering, blues rock feel
that typified Free, yet seems less cluttered & is tougher in delivery.
Producing two hit singles (" Can't Get Enough" & "Movin' On"),generating
total sales now in excess of 5 million copies & with songs from it still filling the
playlists of Classic Rock radio stations, this stunner of an album deserves a place
as one of the top albums of the 70's.
