After listening to Rammstein's debut album Herzeleid, I was almost expecting Sehnsucht to fall short in comparison, I was definitely wrong! Once again Rammstein's unique sound comes through in this album. There is quite a bit more use of synthesizers and keyboards in Sehnsucht, but that is definitely not a bad thing, the use of these instruments makes all the songs on this album sound so innovative (despite having been used perfectly on Herzeleid already).

The songs on Sehnsucht are: Sehnsucht, engel (featuring German pop singer Bobo), tier, bestrafe mich, du hast, bück dich, spiel mit mir, klavier, alter mann, eifersucht and küss mich (fellfrosch). There are also 2 bonus tracks that are not listed on the back of the album, and they are the English versions of engel and du hast. Although some of the original meaning of the songs are lost in translation from German to English (which is a shame), I still think it is very cool to hear Till sing in English, and I believe these tracks are exclusive to the North American release of Sehnsucht.

There is a great combination of songs on this album. Tracks such as sehnsucht, bestrafe mich and eifersucht are heavy songs that really bang. Other tracks like engel, du hast and bück dich start off much lighter and full of synthesizers, only to lead into heavy riffs and pounding drums. There is also a track called klavier which is very slow and somber, but it is extremely powerful, and I definitely recommend this song!

If you are a fan of Rammstein's Herzeleid album and we were weary of buying Sehnsucht, don't be, it is an amazing follow up album for an amazing band!!
