Editorial Reviews
- 12" 180-gram HQ virgin vinyl reissues of the original stereo mixes of the legendary band's six Jim Morrison-fronted studio albums.
- The reissues of these now historic albums - all originally released between 1967 and 1970 - are replicas of the initial vinyl offerings, including artwork and inner sleeves.
- The laquers were cut at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood, CA under the direct supervision of original Doors producer/engineer Bruce Botnick and Electra Records founder Jac Holzman.
- MORRISON HOTEL, released in 1970 in the wake of Morrison's infamous indecency bust, hit #4 and introduced "Waiting For The Sun," "Roadhouse Blues," and "Ship Of Fools."

Jim Morrison felt he was really just an ol' blues man and this album attempts to reflect the then current metamorphasis. Morrison Hotel kicks off with Roadhouse Blues...singing, 'going to the Roadhouse and gonna have a real, good time. Let it roll, baby, roll!' ...and that they did. It was a strong way to start off an album and it also screams, 'we're back!' You feel a rawer, stripped down sound from the get go. You also see why this is one of their best songs. You also get a feel that the band is done with theatrics and just enjoy making music again.
What follows Roadhouse is one of my favorite Doors' songs, Waiting for the Sun. Just a great song that builds up, with great lyrics that are backed with the perfect music accompaniment to create a mood of anxiety that seems to find its release in the final moments.
The real gem on this album is Peace Frog. It is actually a combination of two of Jim's poems playing side by side. Partially biographical, if you know any of the band's history with legal entanglements, you will understand references to American cities. Regardless, that is not necessary to enjoy the song. It is just a good guitar riff with a good rock tempo.
Apart from the sound, the second strong point of Morrison Hotel is the coherency of all the songs. Even the weak moments are given greater merit by the tapestry woven together as a whole. It is one album to be listened to from start to finish.
