It sounds perfect. No skips. One of the best Doors albums, no doubts. What I liked the most is the texture of the sleeve. It is not glossy like most of them, this one resembles cardboard or something like that, buy one and you'll understand better. Really good album.

I won't comment on the content of the album, as we all know how great Morrison Hotel is. But I will advise that if you don't own the remaster then you should. The audio quality is vastly superior to the original CD, and sounds more like vinyl. At this price, what are you waiting for?

The beauty of Morrison Hotel is equal to the beauty of U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind, in the sense that they are both returns to the roots of the band after having dabbled in experimentation with uneven results. Although neither band recaptures their original spark, they reveal a flame that has matured through time.

Jim Morrison felt he was really just an ol' blues man and this album attempts to reflect the then current metamorphasis. Morrison Hotel kicks off with Roadhouse Blues...singing, 'going to the Roadhouse and gonna have a real, good time. Let it roll, baby, roll!' ...and that they did. It was a strong way to start off an album and it also screams, 'we're back!' You feel a rawer, stripped down sound from the get go. You also see why this is one of their best songs. You also get a feel that the band is done with theatrics and just enjoy making music again.

What follows Roadhouse is one of my favorite Doors' songs, Waiting for the Sun. Just a great song that builds up, with great lyrics that are backed with the perfect music accompaniment to create a mood of anxiety that seems to find its release in the final moments.

The real gem on this album is Peace Frog. It is actually a combination of two of Jim's poems playing side by side. Partially biographical, if you know any of the band's history with legal entanglements, you will understand references to American cities. Regardless, that is not necessary to enjoy the song. It is just a good guitar riff with a good rock tempo.

Apart from the sound, the second strong point of Morrison Hotel is the coherency of all the songs. Even the weak moments are given greater merit by the tapestry woven together as a whole. It is one album to be listened to from start to finish.

This album was a nice return to blues roots after the commercial disappointment of The Soft Parade. Its a standard Rhino repress of the original stereo mix. Not bad but nothing special about the press. There is audiophile editions of all their studio albums. If you are looking to just have it in your collection this is a good pickup.

This vinyl pressing sounds great and it is a consistently pleasing Doors album. My problem is the bad quality cover art. It looks like low-resolution, washed-out artwork. I had copies of first release Doors albums back in the day and I distinctly remember vibrant colours and sharp images. The cover art here and especially inside the gatefold cover is disappointing to say the least. I love vinyl for the "experience" and perusing the cover as the record spins is a big part of it yet when I look at this cover (plus the covers of both Shadows of Knight rereleases) I feel a little ripped off. It looks like a cheap bootleg from China where the printer was running low on ink or something. Rhino and Sundazed seem to be the main culprits here. Rereleases from "Vinyl Lovers" and "Friday Music" look to be of better quality artwise. I think I would prefer original copies of the records with slight ring wear as opposed to these new re-releases. They just look dull and kinda sun-bleached. Pity.
