About Us
BMG is a new kind of music company. Our mission is clear; to help artists and songwriters make the very most of their songs and recordings in the digital age. That’s why we offer the best creative support, provide the best access to platforms and work hard to maximize the value of each and everything. We are not a technology company – though we use the best technology. We are not just a music publisher or a record label – although we offer both. We are a new kind of music company for a new world. A new world which demands that deals are transparent and fair. A new world in which service to artists and writers is key.

Editorial Reviews
1979 was MOTÖRHEAD year – the year of ‘Overkill’. MOTÖRHEAD, the loudest band in the world, with the power and force of a hundred pneumatic drills they destroyed the nation over and again and no-one, repeat no-one, remained unaffected by them – everyone was torn limb from limb. The album ‘Overkill’ and was ten times more powerful than their first album ‘Motörhead’, which was a killer in itself. The production was in the capable and experienced hands of one Jimmy Miller, whose previous successes had been with the likes of the Rolling Stones. He brought out the very best in the boys and the total effect was lethal. ‘Overkill’ is full of real skullcrackers, brain damaging to the nth degree and with the hit singles ‘Overkill’ and ‘No Class’ you can doubtless guess the destroying effect of the whole affair. That’s Motörhead; straight, basic, down to earth rock and roll, with absolutely no holds barred.

Even though this is music from my generation I was not familiar with this album whatsoever until I saw this album cover in a book about heavy metal/hard rock album cover art.
I had purchased Iron Fist way back in the early 80's and have owned Ace of Spades on cd for some time as well so it's very strange that I was unfamiliar with this album.
Having never been much of a Motorhead fan in the past, I have to say that I'm enjoying this album quite a bit. This may be sacrilege to true Motorhead fans but I find this album to be superior to Ace of Spades in terms of the production and musicianship.
While not as heavy as Ace of Spades overall, there is more variety in the songs.
I was listening to some Motorhead on youtube the other day, searching for other lost gems that I may have missed when my teenage son came into the room. He was shocked that I was listening to this band knowing that I lean heavily toward bands with more elite musicians such as the Michael Schenker Group, Rainbow, Rush, etc. He sat and listened to whatever Motorhead I was checking out and said bluntly "Motorhead's music doesn't seem to go anywhere."
I probably would say before getting Overkill that I agreed with him. Surprisingly, this album has many songs that indeed "go somewhere!"
Aside from having perhaps the most kick*** album cover you'll ever find, I'd give Overkill two thumbs up.
Fast Eddie's playing is the best I've heard from him with the exception of (maybe) the Fastway debut album (an album that's been one of my favorites since it came out in 83). Likewise, Phil's drumming is superb and even Lemmy's bass lines and vocals are a notch above what I've heard previously.
I recommend this album to anyone that's a fan of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal or hard rock fans in general.

Well, what can I say this was Motörhead at their absolute prime! Every song an Anthem in itself. Go get it if you don't already have it.
