Editorial Reviews
Recorded at Henson Studios and Trainwreck Studios,Ohmsis an other-worldly body of work meticulously crafted by the 5 piece band. It is a magnificent tour de force and their first album in 4 years since the critically acclaimedGoreLP in 2016. The band, which includes Chino Moreno, Frank Delgado, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham, and Sergio Vega, has produced a dense LP with every member firing on all cylinders. The album also boasts a familiar collaborator in veteran producer and engineer Terry Date, who worked on 1995’sAdrenaline,1997’sAround the Furand 2000’sWhite Pony. All of the above assembles and sets the stage to deliverOhms;10 tracks of raw escapism and unparalleled grooves that have made Deftones' sound singular for over two decades.

1. Genesis- A heavy, mind-blowing opening track. It starts out with the futurist droning of the keyboard and builds up quite quickly. I love Chino Moreno's vocals on this particular song. It sounds like he is preparing for a battle.
2. Ceremony- This song seems much darker after reviewing the lyrics. It is a pretty light sounding song despite the lyrics. The chorus is the most memorable part of this song to me because of the sound of the music intertwined with Chino's vocals. This is where the darkness of the song shines through.
3. Urantia- This song is another sort of light sounding song. I like the carefree feeling the lyrics and music evoke. I love the romantic nature of the song as well.
4. Error- This song starts off sort of poppy and bright sounding. The ending of this song is everything! It is dreamy. I love how the end of the song sort of comes at you unexpectedly. I can imagine someone cruising around the streets to the last portion of the song. It just has a certain groove to it that I can't get enough of.
5. The Spell of Mathematics- A dark love song of sorts. It has a romantic, demure almost foreboding sound to it.
6. Pompeji- A beautiful song overall. I love the sounds of the seagulls and the crashing waves as they round out the atmosphere of the song nicely.
7. This Link Is Dead-A heavy song. Someone had mentioned in a Deftones group I am in on Facebook how this song reminds them of CMND/CTRL off of the Diamond Eyes album, which is very true. It has the same style of vocals. The music is definitely different though.
8. Radiant City- I love the heavier and lighter sounds being mixed here. I love Chino's sort of subdued screams on this song. In my opinion, it is another love song of two dreamy lovers who are enthralled with each other.
9. Headless- This song has a foreboding sort of tone to it. It is like Chino's lyrics are trying to sway you to take part in a life style unknown to you. It also displays a loud and soft mixture of vocals and music. The way it ends sort of leaves you wanting more.
10. Ohms- A bright sounding closing track. Once again it sounds like Chino is ready for some type of battle. The music is triumphant sounding. The battle sounds like it was victorious.
Every Deftones album is different and it’s still a similar sound you love, It’s Deftones. When Ohms was releasing i was exciting to be apart of a new release for this group i’ve come to love. And at first i didn’t know what to make of it.
But after the first listen, I could not stop thinking about. So i listened to it again. Then a third. It got better. And better. There is something special about this Ohms Album you can’t place with a direct finger. It just happened. The flow. The ferocity. The elegance. The whole approach is otherwordly from any of Deftones’ works. Each album has been a singular work but this, this is work for another world that is yet still familiar.
Ohms is additionally better in sight of its previous albums. Seeing the band grow, mature and bring this full majestic stallion to the opening ear lobes.
Headless and Ceremony are high contenders for best listens. However Error’s chorus is uprising, and the bridge/follow up from Spell of Mathematics to Pompeji is a singular experience. Urantia is a solid listen. While everything else, well, blends into a cohesive journey. Couple songs i didn’t vibe to straight away. Being a heavy, ethereal album i kept coming back and was rewarded. Everything is perfect.
That’s the thing, Deftones does not disappoint on rewarding. Ohms is heavy, ethereal, cohesive, elegant, ubrupt and old school with an experimentation on new school. Check it out, please, give it your patience and ears. There’s a lot here to experience.
The synth work on this record is a real standout. Sinister sounding, weaving in and out of some monstrous riffs. And riffs they've got on this record. Carpenter definitely came to play. Chino's vocals sound purpose filled in these new songs, and the band overall sounds eager to explore new territories in sound and take the occasional almost progish left turn. If you're already a 'tones fan, you're probably already on this record. If you're not, but you love music with heart, balls and some intense feels, I'd highly recommend this one.

Note: j'aimerai vraiment que cette information (Digipack, Digisleeve, Jewel Case, Super Jewel Case, etc.) soie clairement indiqué.
