Sound's great.
Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2023
I recently bought this cassette tape to accompany my new boombox, and let me tell you, it has been an absolute rock 'n' roll experience! This iconic album takes me on a nostalgic journey back to the golden era of music, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Firstly, the sheer energy and power of Joan Jett's music is electrifying. From the rebellious anthem "Bad Reputation" to the infectious hooks of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," every track on this album packs a punch. The gritty guitar riffs and Joan Jett's raw vocals transport me to a time when rock music ruled the airwaves. It's like having my very own personal concert right in my living room!
The cassette tape format adds an extra layer of authenticity to the experience. There's something special about physically inserting the tape, pressing play, and hearing that familiar hiss before the music kicks in. It brings back memories of sitting by the radio, waiting to record my favorite songs, and the excitement of discovering new music. It's a tangible connection to a bygone era that digital formats simply can't replicate.
In terms of sound quality, I must say that this cassette tape delivers. The songs sound crisp and clear, with just the right amount of analog warmth. It captures the essence of the original recordings, preserving the gritty charm that made Joan Jett's music so captivating. Each guitar riff, drumbeat, and vocal nuance is faithfully reproduced, ensuring an immersive listening experience.
Furthermore, the artwork and packaging of the cassette tape are a delightful nod to the album's era. The vibrant cover art and accompanying booklet provide a visual feast that enhances the overall nostalgia factor. It's a joy to hold the cassette in my hands and admire the attention to detail that went into its design.
As a fan of Joan Jett, this purchase has exceeded my expectations. It allows me to relive the glory days of rock music and immerse myself in the timeless classics that defined an era. If you're a fan of rock 'n' roll or simply appreciate the magic of analog music, I highly recommend adding the cassette tape of "Hit List" by Joan Jett to your collection. It's a musical treasure that will bring a smile to your face and make you want to turn up the volume!

Joan Jett delivers a killer covers collection. Ten sliced and diced bits of rock 'n' roll heaven on earth. AC/DC (Dirty Deeds), Nazareth (Love Hurts), Kinks (Celluloid Heroes), ZZ Top (Tush), Chambers Brothers (Time Has Come Today). And that's just half the story. If, like me, you love a great covers set, and if you love your rock 'n' roll served-up straight from the heart, well, Joan Jett's The Hit List belongs in your collection. I'm sure glad I have it in mine. Four shining stars and definitely recommended.

Many think this is a greatest hits but it's a concept of a jukebox top ten. She tackles some of the hardest to tackle from the 60s and 70s. It's a top performance. It may very well be the best album she ever made.

I had been looking for this for some tyme when I happened across it while reviewing some of Joan's catalog on Amazon. I'd just heard she'd been voted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for 2015 induction. Was a little surprised to hear that, but it did get me searching through some of her material to see if maybe I'd just missed something. I like Joan Jett and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, just didn't think she'd be a viable HOF candidate. I'm still a bit undecided on that subject...as I have my own agenda and feel that Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull should be inducted...but, that is another story in and of itself.
I think "The Hit List" is a good addition to anyone's collection that enjoys good tyme fun rock and roll. I was originally interested in this release for the "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap"-AC/DC and "Love Hurts"-Nazareth covers. I found that all the songs were well chosen and well performed. I think it is just her "stamp" or "style", but the songs seem to have an echo of sorts on her vocals. I might not be describing that technically correct, but it might be something that some listeners will not appreciate. I tend to like it, as that is her sound to me. I bought "I Love Rock And Roll" when it first came out and really liked it. I didn't stay abreast her following releases though, so my knowledge of her material is a bit lacking. Did purchase her "Sinner" '06 release and felt she still had the Joan Jett attitude and had matured a bit with her writing and delivery style. I'm going to say there is not a song on this cover/tribute release that I don't appreciate and like...I do admit that there were a couple that I was unfamiliar with the original, like the Sex Pistols "Vacant". Not sure how they sounded when they recorded it, but I like her take on it. She has that "Punk" feel to a lot of what I hear, but it is not overbearing or abrasive, to me anyway.
I noticed some reviewers had been confused and thought this was a Joan Jett Greatest Hits or Best Of release...please know that it is not. I feel she just wanted to do some fun songs and pay a bit of a tribute to some artists who'd impacted and shaped her love of music. The Kinks "Celluloid Heroes" is probably my favorite song of the set, but they are all good.

Covers album by Joan Jett
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 20, 2021
I have always liked great artists doing covers of songs not their own hits. This is one of my favourite Joan Jett cds and her choice of covers is immaculate especially the Everly Brothers, Love Hurts. Just great unpretentious rock 'n' roll.

This is a covers album. All the songs are okay, but none are great. The least good of Joan's solo albums. Only buy if you are a completist!
