Pink Floyd’s Animals 2018 Remix on Deluxe Gatefold available from 7 October. This is the first time the album will have been available in 5.1 Surround Sound. Animals is the tenth studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in January 1977.. It was recorded at the band's Britannia Row Studios in London throughout 1976 and early 1977, and was produced by the band themselves. The album was recorded by band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. The Deluxe Gatefold version includes LP, CD, audio Blu-ray, audio DVD and a 32-page book. The Blu-ray and DVD audio include the 2018 remix in Stereo, 5.1 Surround (both by James Guthrie) and the original 1977 Stereo mix. The 32-page booklet features rarely seen behind the scenes photographs of the album sleeve shoot along with live images and memorabilia. The album artwork has been reimagined for this release.

Great to have the book and 5.1 treatments of this classic but under appreciated album.

Una edición de capricho. Si sólo te interesa el disco no tienes que gastarte tanto, pero si puedes optar a ella, es muy recomendable.
Where it should have matched the level of passion in the band it failed to grab, to shout, to transmit the emotion behind the performances and - in the age of punk - particularly the disgust that drove them. Before Roger annexed Pink Floyd Central, before The Wall and The Final Cut, before we had to scrabble around for offcuts and snippets of the glory that had gone before, there was this omnidump of bile that isn’t for the faint-hearted. And it always finished last in my list of Best Pink Floyd Albums of the 70s.
Until now.
The 2018 remix, delayed by internecine wrangling by FOUR years, at last provides a platform for 1976’s angst-ridden work, and shoots it right up there. So much brighter, so much sharper, it’s an overwhelming experience. Dogs, Pigs and Sheep... it's as though they've thrown off the dust sheets, opened the shutters and poured fresh gasoline in the tank. More than that, you can actually hear Rick Wright, Nick Mason, Roger Water and David Gilmour crafting and honing and striving and struggling as they forge this monstrously ambitious behemoth.
I reach for this now fully conceptualised recording more than ever. The vinyl pressing is bang on, you can hear everything, and the new artwork is just as powerful.
This blew me away far more than the new 50th anniversary DSOTM pressing. Turn it up. Spot the difference. And forget the original. 🐶 🐷 🐑
