I am an avid music collector and Genesis fan. This is my most frequently played Genesis album. I bought it on vinyl upon its initial release. I bought the CD when the CD was released. I bought the remastered CD and the Genesis CD Box set of live CDs which included Second's Out. And I purchased the 180g vinyl when that was released I ordered immediatley. As a double vinyl it was really reasonably priced. I would have ordered it without hesitation at double the price.
As far as the music goes if you are reading this you know that this live music is from the "Wind and Wuthering" tour which was a post Peter Gabriel tour with Phil Collins taking over lead vocals. I think Collins does an amazing job on every song even "Supper's Ready" and its quirky vocals. The song selection is a greatest hits of songs from the previous six studio albums. There is simply not a better place to start with Genesis. I have never listened to this album and not loved every minute. A desert island album for me.

This remix is superb. Great sound and separation, nice bass. Of course, Genesis always had good bass pedal sounds on all of their albums. Highly recommend if you like Genesis Live. You can hear Colins and Chester Thompson going at it on the dual drum kits.

Also, on this album, they still use the mellotron, one of my favorite keyboard/choral instruments of the era. On Three-Sides Live, they pivoted to a simply synthesizer. You can tell the difference. Worth it!

I was at the Seattle show, in 1976, their first stop in the lower 48, on this tour and this disc brings back some HUGE memories of that show. I had the double album on vinyl and this is a great replacement. Having been a fan since '71 and being familiar w/ Peter Gabriel at the mic, it was with "eager anticipation" that I was curious as to how Phil Collins was going to do w/ the mic. A huge fan of his drumming, I was pleased to see/hear a very decent replacement for Gabriel....tho I would love to have seen Gabriel, too. I had not heard of Chester Thompson, prior to this gig and was totally blown away by his talent's and when he and Collins dueled, well, I'd never seen/heard anything like it, before/since and I've seen everyone from Led Zepplin, ELP, Eagles, Yes, ZZ Top the Stones, Jeff Beck, Foghat, and all in between, since '69. This was by far the best show I'd ever seen. Especially to have seen Steve Hackett w/ the band and his incredible guitar work, oh my word!!
The greatest shame is that this was not recorded for viewing. When they came on w/ the incredible laser/light show that they toured w/, it set the standard for concert's! These guy's were out to prove something! And that, they did. Get this disc! You'll not regret it!

I am a passionate devotee of Genesis throughout their career, equally adoring of their niche output in the 60s and 70s and their more mainstream material of the 80s and 90s. It would be a very tough call, but if I had to choose one album to be marooned with as my only music on a desert island, this would be it. (A close second would be Three Sides Live.) Seconds Out provides the best rendition ever released of almost every song on it. Supper's Ready and the Dance on a Volcano/Los Endos medley are jaw-droppingly powerful. Squonk, Firth of Fifth, Cinema Show, and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway feel like 3D pop-out versions of their 2D studio progenitors. Carpet Crawlers too is wonderfully done and only exceeded by the 1999 version featuring Peter Gabriel on lead vocal with Phil Collins backing. If you are at all a Genesis fan, particularly of the pre-Abacab era, you will absolutely love this masterpiece.

This is perhaps the best album ever. The selection of songs is really amazing. Phil and the boys are at their highest point, they play their classics in a very powerful manner.
If you are a Genesis fan this is an imperdible and if you are some how inclined to progressive rock this is a must!

Genesis last album with guitarist Steve Hackett, but he certainly goes out well. This Album contains full length performances of some of bands greatest moments including the complete Suppers Ready. Would definitely reccomend this to fans, or anyone wanting to get into mid-age Genesis

5.0 out of 5 stars A pesar de la ausencia de Gabriel, Seconds Out es un álbum en vivo esencial de Genesis.
Reviewed in Mexico on October 7, 2023
