I bought this on an impulse after reading another review on this page. Glad I did. Ritchie at his feral, scorching. slicing best. One great riff and hook after another. Doogie White's vocals are only fair, but this CD would sound terrific even with me on the mike. This is what 'hard rock' is supposed to sound like: meaty, angry, joyous, and loud. Dang, would have loved to have heard Ian Gillan singing these tunes. Of course, then Ritchie would REALLY have sounded angry. If this is the last of this type of guitar work we hear from Blackmore, then it's a great one to go out with.

I First noticed this cd way back in 1995. At that time i decided not to by it due to the fact that i thought that i wouldnt like it. As many years before i had purchased a double cd titled The best of Rainbow. This was a collection of songs from 1975-1981. That recording profiled 3 vocalists Ronnie James Dio (RIP) Graham Bonnett and Joe Lynn Turner. My favourite singer is Ronnie James Dio without doubt. He has a tremendous voice and he compliments the guitar wizardry of Richie Blackmore. Fast forward 2012..... i decided to take a chance and finally buy the cd only because it turned out to be Richie Blackmores last rock/ hard rock album, as he abandoned rock , hard rock for his renaissance crusade with his partner / wife candice Night. My expectactions was not high, however surprisingly i like this alot. The songs are very well crafted, catchy (without being commercial)and bluesy. The vocalist Doogie White is vey good and original, he compliments the guitar playing well and sings from the heart. The Highlights are Wolf to the Moon,Cold Hearted Woman,Ariel,Hall of the Mountain King, and the highlight song of them all Still Iam Sad.What makes these collection of songs special is that although these sound like typical rainbow tunes you can also feel that Richie Blackmore was moving very close to the Renaissance sound he wanted to explore with Blackmores Night.... and the rest is history.I wish i had bought this Cd in 1995. This is a must buy for all rainbow fans to add to your collection.

IMHO, one of the best Rainbow albums produced. Doogie White handles the vocals on this one (and contributed to writing), and while Ronnie Jame Dio (RIP) was the utlimate rock singer, I really, really like Doogie on this one. Candice Night also contributed to the songs with her lyrics (supurb!!) which take the songs to a new level. So, if you're a Ritchie Blackmore fan - a Deep Purple fan - a Blackmore's Night fan...buy the CD. It will be a wonderful addition to your collection.

Stranger in us all is a very good rocking cd. If you're a fan of Blackmore this is a must. No matter what musicians he puts in place, it still comes out sounding great. All I can say is that I hope Blackmore continues putting out material weather its with deep purple or his band rainbow. I have to admit I was skeptical at first, but this cd turned out a pleasure to listen to. Get it, you won't be sorry.

Background - I bought this (without listening to it) out of curiosity. I am an old Rainbow fan who really enjoyed the first 3 studio albums immensely. The changes in the line up weren't a big problem until a replacement for Dio had to be found. I liked some of what Bonnet did, but stopped buying albums after listening to Turner on Difficult to Cure. I only recently learned that a further recording had been made with a new vocalist.

This album - I think Doogie White's selection was a stroke of genius - his voice is pitched perfectly to sing anything that Dio sang. Listening to Stranger In Us All reminded me of why I enjoyed to earlier recordings. The best praise I can give this album is to confirm that there are no weak tracks on it. Every song is different and has its own appeal. White and Blackmore sounded a lot (but maybe a little better) than Dio and Blackmore. Blackmore was as Blackmore always is - very very good. The Hall of the Mountain King was a bit quirky (based as it unashamedely was, on Grieg's classical piece) but very enjoyable if not just a tiny bit too long. I should have bought this 12 years ago.

The question I was asked was Did "Stranger In Us All" meet my expectations. My answer is no. It completely exceeded them. I read that this is similar to the first Rainbow albums, and I certainly agree with that. Mr. Blackmore's creations are spectacular. The musicians and vocalists that he chooses to work with are all the very best. I just wish there would be more. Amazon, YOU must have some clout. Tell the man. . . .

Rainbow’s ‘Stranger in Us All’ was not a true reunion album as it did not bring back any former members except of course for the Man in Black. Ritchie Blackmore had signed a solo deal as a prerequisite to rejoining Deep Purple for one final album in 1993 and after that ended fairly acrimoniously, Blackmore grabbed some new cohorts and put out a new Rainbow album in late summer of ‘95. Though it may have had many new faces, the old Rainbow sound was pretty much back on this LP. New vocalist Doogie White acquits himself fairly well; he was certainly not Rainbow’s best singer but he was fine. The album itself though just runs out of steam. On the ancient LP format, the songs that would have constituted Side One are generally the best especially my personal faves “Ariel”, “Cold Hearted Woman” and “Hunting Humans”. I feel these songs captured the magic from the glory years of ‘75-’83. However, that being said the second half of the record is a letdown, including two covers (sorta) at the end and one of them being a song Blackmore had already done a billion times - the old Yardbirds chestnut “Still I’m Sad”. You would have hoped for more after such a long layoff. Anyway, long time fans like myself might appreciate the songs already mentioned but I really don’t care for quite a few of the rest. Will there be another (faux) Rainbow album in the near future? One thing is certain, Ritchie Blackmore is always unpredictable (except for maybe some of tunes on ‘Stranger’) so don’t be surprised. Justify...speak the lies...close your eyes….it’s still Rainbow, but maybe more Rainbow lite.
