Along with the original RCA LP I own, I also have the 2015 CD version. The CD sounds fine and it has the ability of bringing something else to the table but, I usually prefer the vinyl sound rather than digital. There's just something to it, with both medias, I can't explain.
I recently pulled my old LP of this album out for a listen, then I listened to the CD version I have.
The LP I own was basically acquired from my older brother, who in turn, acquired from a friend of his who didn't like this album. It's seen quite a bit of play time by me through many different types of handling abilities. I was only 15 at the time and I really got attached to the tunes on this album. It was 'that' time during 1971. (if you know what I mean)
I thought to myself, I could really use a nice clean copy of this album on vinyl, so the search began.
I found and ordered this LP but it got hung up in the shipping process so I looked on-line again. Then I saw there is the picture disc LP, albeit associated with having sound issues. My local music store had a copy of the picture disc, so I bought it.
Yes, the picture disc album has a lot of surface noise and, to me, it ruins the enjoyment of the entire album. The tracks sound nice and it's pressed nice but the surface noise has to affect the overall sound quality. The picture disc album also comes with a nice poster of Bowie (kick cover shot) and a lyrics sheet. I find this nice so I'm probably keeping it just for that. The picture disc looks cool too though.
I then bought a copy of Metrobolist because I saw that version on-line as well. It has a real good pressing and the music material sounds very good. It is a re-mix so there are some differences. I notice a few things less prominent but there are things I never heard before. Things that had to have been added from the master recording that weren't on the original version I am most accustomed to. The bass tracks are much more subdued. I think the bass lacks punch and balance of overall tone compared to the other releases. There are reviews of this album on Amazon for more details.
I finally received this album, being reviewed, today.
I am truly blown away with the quality of the pressing and the quietness of the vinyl. The mix is better balanced than the original RCA version I have. All the tracks on this album are well balanced. The mix is similar to the original version but the mix sounds so much cleaner and more level across the board. It's a great sounding album. And, if you're familiar with this album like I am, you're sure to hear what I'm talking about.
In my opinion, this is the one to own.

Bowie compone un álbum lleno de guitarras poderosas y armonías menores. Se trata quizá, del trabajo más oscuro en el mejor de los sentidos, del artista. No tiene desperdicio.
